Split it 20 (and then 22 and then 24 and then 26) ways, that's not exactly a huge windfall.

The US is rarely going to get top-tier talent from abroad. Playing in Madrid or Paris on Saturday or facing Juventus in the Champions League is a much stronger pull than playing in Kansas City on a Wednesday and playing Joe Public in CONCACAF.

But they can - and have, and will continue to - upgrade the level of talent.

The actual next round of expansion clubs will apparently pay $150 million, so that's $300M split 20 (or 23 or 24, depending) ways. That won't go THAT far. The league supposedly lost slightly more than that in its first several years of life.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.
