Playoffs are around the corner!

Post by zeke41 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 4:24 pm

Last night the Flight won 113-109, moving to 8-4, and taking over the 2nd place position from the Franklin Knights (7-4) who lost to Gwinnett last night 131-107. Gwinnett leads the WBA at 9-3. The Flight are in Gwinnett next Friday, which will decide who gets the first place cede and home court advantage throughout the playoffs.

Just thought I'd share with you a little excitement...for us and really for the WBA. At least it's an interesting 3-way battle for the 2010 WBA Championship.

Hey Mark - any opinions on the Jacksonville team? They just announced they are going to the ABA, and their release said the guy led them to an undefeated season in the WBA.

Is he as inept as his release seems to indicate he is?

Congrats on seeing the hard work pay off for you in your first year, and building a nice foundation to grow from in the future...

Hmmmm...great question. Let me think a little bit about how I want to respond to that...I'll get back with you all in a little bit.

And thanks for the compliments and the applause. I'll admit...even I had no idea this year would be this well organized for us. We definitely have something to build upon.

Mark, I just read the article and I'm in complete agreement with you. I think the league is nuts to do that and I'm sure you will find a new league to join.
That picture in the article shows that you have a singnificant number of fans.

If WBA teams are going to "do an ABAish move" and cancel games the morning of the contest they should be chucked out. If I was the Flight I'd do the same thing. Abandon ship.

Now Mark, just to set the record straight because there is some discussion about this.....did the Flight make all their away games? Did the Flight make all their away games on time?

Due to numerous threats of legal action from certain people.......all of the above is my opinion only and it should be noted that I have never invested in the ABA. It is simply one mans opinion.

Absolutely. We were actually a bit late (probably 10-15 minutes tops?) for one contest in Gwinnett due to an overturned semi on I-85, but I was in communication the entire time with them trying to figure out the best alternative route. I also did a quick walk along the stands and apologized personally to their fans. Of course, Gwinnett couldn't complain much. They were an hour and a half late to our game due to van trouble, and we didn't even RUSH them onto the floor. Several fans had to leave that game, being that it was a school night (even the High School band we brought in had to leave at halftime).

We made it to Gwinnett twice, Marietta, and Franklin, and were prepared (before getting the trip canceled) to go to Tupelo (and then Birmingham...then only to Franklin), Jacksonville twice, and Decatur. We never missed a game! Not one.
