Seattle Explorers

Post by wellington » Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:28 pm

"The Great Falls Explorers could become the Seattle Explorers very easily," [Tuckman] said.
Local businesses say the Great Falls Explorers professional basketball team and team owner Michael Tuckman of Seattle are racking up more than points this season. They say Tuckman has between $40,000 and $50,000 in outstanding bills.

Maybe nothing terribly new (we all know that Tuckman is a disaster), but this article from 2/19 brings up a couple of interesting points. Although Tuckman has threatened to move the Explorers over the last couple of months, this is the first time from my knowledge that he specifically said 'Seattle Explorers.' Secondly, this article does a nice job outlining all the money owed to local businesses. Tuckman just continues the mantra "I'll pay you tomorrow" or "I never engaged their services."

But they'll make LOTS MORE MONEY IN SEATTLE!

This guy is a disaster. A total disaster.

The only way this franchise could be more of a train wreck is if Tuckman hired Mark McClure.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.

I do have to give Tuckman some credit..... he isn't afraid of an interview..... most of the times in these cases IF the paper can get a hold of them they either say no comment or have a short statement.... Tuckman just likes to talk I think, if I was his lawyer I would have him shut up now he is just hurting himself by saying all of that..... Take the team move them to Seattle or somewhere over there and see if you can make it work there, because you are just destroying Great Falls chances of ever getting a minor league sports team again.... It happened in Rapid City, 1 bad owner puts a good city in bad shape really quick...

I still can't believe the af2 thought about letting him own a franchise.

This league (NIFL) is like a frickin' cockroach. You could throw a nuclear bomb at it and it would still survive

So I'd rather spend a quarter of an ABA franchise to repair my car, as opposed to spending a franchise and a half to get a new car that might have some planned obsolescence that causes it to break down 5 days after the end of the warranty period.

My understanding is that it would be placed in a suburb about 40 minutes east of Seattle where an Indian Tribe owns a 6,500 seat venue...... I don't know if it would work or not but I think it is still the best situation for the franchise..... Great Falls won't work without local owners, the two owners they had weren't the most honest guys around and local businesses have trusted the owners and have lost...... I think the only way an outside owner with the explorers is to move them.....

What casino?

40 miles east of Seattle is square in the Cascade foothills... or the Cascades themselves. Not exactly a population base worth crowing about.
