Tuckman, Tuckman, Bo Buckman...

Post by MontanaFella » Tue Feb 05, 2008 8:15 pm

As the Tuckman turns...the Great Falls soap opera has taken some interesting turns.

A big win for the Explorers last night, whomever they are. But back here in Great Falls, the newspaper told of a meeting that was supposed to have taken place last week between Tuckman and the leadership of the arena that is owed upwards of $12,000 and has not been paid a nickel. As of today, no report has been given as to the outcome of that meeting.

Also, a number of the former players who have still not been paid are awaiting their w-2 tax forms. There is know way to track what they were acutally paid nor what their withholdings should have been, they were not licensed subcontractors therefore Tuckman broke both state and federal laws. He has also signed new players before paying off the players, coaches and staff that he has owed for months.

The housing situations are still not paid for. A fax was sent out to all city hotels warning about Tuckman's lack of payment to many of them.

Players are now supposedly getting paid by the game rather than by any sort of salary. The car dealership that loaned a vehicle to be driven by former coach Wedman is looking to get their vehicle back since the contract has been breached over and over again.

There is however a commercial on television that one lucky couple will be able to get married at halftime of the Explorers' valentine's day game. That should right the ship...

..would probably leave the couple better prepared than 99% of Americans for marriage...

Thank God that Tuckman signed new players before he payed off the old players, the team is so much better now. And as for the things like the apartments and the hotels that were not paid for, like Tuckman says, that was all owed by the previous owners, so he is not responsible for paying them. It is true that Tuckman has a different way of doing business then any of us our used too, but at least we still have a team here in Great Falls, a team that was sporting new road uniforms last night, the are dark blue and they look real sharp. I am happy that we still have a team, there is no word on the outcome of the meeting, but no news is usually good news. Go Explorers and lets support our team while they are here, so to you Explorers fans, come out and show your support at the rest of this seasons home games.

Most of the old players sucked so bad that they didn't deserve to be paid, like Mike Chavez.

I was pleasantly surprised last night watching the Explorers -- they looked good. Maybe Tuckman knows something about basketball after all.

I still find this a little strange. I'm not an attorney, but if you buy a franchise don't you assume all debts/obligations. Regardless, having a lot of outstanding debts makes for bad PR and only fosters ill will within the community. Tuckman just needs to step to the plate and clear the mess left by APEX. If he did so I'm sure the community would rally around the team.

The jerseys looked great!

Why do you people drink the Tuckman Kool-Aid.

I agree that any team is good and it isn't these players fault that the others didn't get paid.

Why don't you think that the apartments and hotels are Tuckman's responsibility? He had ownership of the team on opening night, the players stayed in those places for two months of his ownership. The hotels were for visiting teams and there was no home game until a month into his ownership.

If he would have covered the financials that he said he was going to from the get go, the team could have brought in the players they planned to instead of guys who were willing to drive themselves to camp.

Jbird - you have been a huge Marlyn Bryant fan...do you think it is right that he only gets paid every now and then and if he gets hurt he has no insurance and will have to figure out a way to pay for all of his treatments on his own.

Go Explorers, but Tuckman go home.

I thought that this clown is a lawyer? He can get into much legal trouble operating the way he is operating. At bankrupcy, which is coming next, I am sure, the trustee will ask these same questions and he gets little slack if he went to law school. Creditors don't like to be lied to. I see this turning out very badly, basketball fans.

The US Labor Dept. disagrees with your opinion and their opinion counts.

AMEN MontanaFella! The Explorers are great, the owner (just like Clark, the previous owner) is a glorified conman.

People (from out of the area) talk about low attendance as proof that fans don't care about the team. What they don't realize is that this is an area where a handshake is as good as an iron-clad contract, and word got out that Tuckman is essentially running a big fraud, and essentially a pyramid scheme (take from new sponsors, don't pay those you owe, etc.) NOT COOL HERE!!!

Nobody wants to put money in his pocket - quite frankly we'd be happy to see him behind bars!
