ABA Finals on ESPN3

Post by turbocamyes » Sun Mar 09, 2014 1:19 am

From Shreveport's Facebook Page:

Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks Coach Steve Tucker makes announcement to local media that ESPN3 will televise all the games of the up coming American Basketball Association ABA Championship series starting April 10th at the Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport. Your undefeated Mavericks on top of the ABA "Power Rankings" will be among 8-teams that will compete the during a week long event. Mario Villafuerte/SB Mavericks 2014

That is, of course, a deal that the S-B Mavericks made with ESPN3 (which, I gather, amounts to getting a video feed to Bristol). It's no more of an "ABA" deal than any other scheme associated with the league, it's one team being creative.

Let's give credit where credit is due... ESPN3 has 2 ABA games a day listed from 4/10-4/12 and 1 game each on the 13th -15th.

Free to ESPN3 or not, at least they have gotten enough done to convince them to put the games on their broadcast schedule.

99% of the ABA teams have no reason to exist, however, if the other 1% are going to try, at least let's give them credit (and rip them to shreds if it falls apart).

Well, I'm a bit disappointed that this is going to happen for real, because it will give legitimacy to an organization that does not deserve any.

I thought that since I was going it would give the games legitimacy. Upstaged by ESPN again!

Watching 'em as we speak...Joe and the play-by-play woman are talking about everything EXCEPT the game.

At this point, I think the ABA is now "so bad, it's good."

This is a disgrace to broadcasting at any level....Yikes. I can't believe Newman's ego is so big he has to broadcast all of the games.

Nobody showed up to the game, I see...

You really get a feel for how delusional Joe is, too...I'm no psychiatrist, but I wonder what mental illness this poor guy suffers from.

It's not ego.

He doesn't have to pay an announcer this way.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.
