No, NOT for that alone, genius.

Because it's a smaller market than Columbus, Austin, Virginia Beach and Milwaukee and barely larger than Louisville.

Because it's only fun to visit there once a year, and that's during the Florida/Georgia game weekend.

Because outside of football (the Jags - most years - and the USFL's Bulls), they've struggled to support most of their teams, historically (their AA baseball team, playing in an 8-year-old facility, draws less than half capacity).

Because it has a limited big-money corporate base.

And because it smells. And it's not a nice place to go.

THAT'S why.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.

Look...my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek....

Jacksonville is a "minor league town" because they actually had a PARADE for the ABA Champions.... THAT makes them a minor league town!

Believe me, I'm ashamed my hometown (yes, Jacksonville - I live in Vegas now) had a parade for a crappy minor league basketball title.

Sad Sad Sad

Did the ABA provide the championship trophy? Or did Jacksonville have to go out and purchase their own trophy? I know the ABA All Stars did not get anything. They were suppose to play for a cash prize but instead the winner did not receive a dime! The players did not receive any trophies . They didn't even get a t-shirt. SAD SAD SAD!

Give Jax a break ...

It's nice to have some Championship teams, along with the Giants, representing Jacksonville.

Don't be ashamed SK.

Mayor Brown is doing his part to support and acknowledge the Giants success among the community. The parade was a nice way honor the day and the champonship.

Yes, I'm afraid, depending on where you live in the Jax Metro area, or where you might be when the wind blows in a different direction than normal, 'the smell' can make it unfriendly.

Jags
The NFL should just take the Jags away right now....
There are a great many devoted Jaguar fans in the city ...

Just not enough of them to fill the Stadium to capacity every Sunday.

And it helps to be a winner ... and the Jags have not been very successful.

I just realized this....there are not many cities at all that have just one big time franchise and the one franchise is an NFL team. Green Bay is the only one that comes to mind and they are only in Green Bay because they've been around since 1920...
