Turbo, do you have the schedule as a Google doc again this year? I can try to track down scores you can't find.
Dang! Who are the Colorado Kings playing? High school girls teams?
Opps, my mistake. I know they won two games in Oklahoma but don't have their opponents' scores. I should have averaged their AGST with 8 games, not 10. I've made the correction. The Colorado Cougars are in their division and could easily be in the top 24.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

LOS ANGELES SLAM TAKE OVER #1 POSITION IN ABA POWER RANKINGS
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) http://www.abalive.com today announced its Power Rankings for the week ending December 11th with the Los Angeles SLAM taking over the #1 position from the Jacksonville Giants. “This was an upset-laden weekend,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Several of our higher ranked teams lost and we had quite a shuffle in the rankings. We definitely have some very strong teams in the ABA this season and I expect this will be the rule rather than the exception.

Okaaay...let me get this straight...

1. When the SETX Mavericks lost a game last year, they kept their #1 ranking over some undefeated teams...but as soon as the Jacksonville Giants lose, they drop all the way to #17?
2. So my Blast are 5-1 and not ranked any higher than #15? Cue Rodney Dangerfield...
3. Excuse me...? A team that's "suspended" operations with no clear date of when (or if) they're relaunching is still ranked (at #22, but still)?!
Proud to be a veteran of these boards for the last 5 years...

Blast to end season
Milwaukee Blast Basketball - 12/15/2011
Due to the current market conditions as well as organizational challenges, we have decided to suspend team operations for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season. It is our intention and goal to continue to strive to raise awareness on community issues during and throughout the summer. It is also our intention and goal to return to the basketball court upon resolving all issues. Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Winning is good, but it just doesn't always put butts in the seat. Fans or no fans, you've gotta bring out the bells and whistles. Giveaways, contests, raffle prizes, DJ, musical entertainment, etc.

So there's a list of the top 24, and 2 of them (at least) have shut it down already? That's shocking! {In my Will Ferrell from Elf voice}

Sounds like another team has gone the way of the Hindenburg...... Collapsing in flames and carnage

Joe's "vetting" process obviously has let in another underfunded dreamer who's team has run out money.

They had played a two-game trip to Chicago, then four straight home games, before folding.

Couldn't afford the first real road trip, perhaps?

I just wonder if a small session on finding cheap travel deals online would change things for some teams. We travel all over...surrounding Atlanta area a ton of times, Nashville, Birmingham, Cary...I always find great hotel rooms online, and get van rentals for usually $65-$100/day. It's not elaborate, but hey...this is minor league basketball. It's part of the journey, which makes for a good story to those who squeeze through and get a big paycheck playing in the NBA or (more likely) overseas.

I'm not sure how Joe can sleep at night allowing people to own teams without giving them some decent info about doing it properly. Then again, I guess Joe didn't even know how to do it right. Those that can't do...sit back and grab $10K?

Q. What would you consider a success in your first season from an attendance and record standpoint?

A. We expect a winning team here in Milwaukee that will fight for a conference title and home-court advantage in the playoffs. We aren't so much concerned with an exact number for attendance as we are with providing the Milwaukee and surrounding communities with an affordable, professional and exciting basketball game. Our real goal is to make sure every fan that attends a Blast game leaves happy and excited about the opportunity to watch another.

This is a franchise that will be here for the long term, said Flenard. It
will maintain team identity. “I think that at the end of the day,
fans are going to find that it’s a very fun and very exciting
experience,” he said. “The Milwaukee Blast is going to be here
for a while. We’re not going anywhere. It’s not my goal to fill
it up and sell it. It’s my goal to fill it up and have a
10-year-old kid remember when he came to the first Milwaukee Blast
game, he bought a hat. And as an adult, he still has that hat
because that’s the memory that will be created.”
I wonder if that 10-year old kid got his hat?

I never said the ABA had the greatest numbers regarding retention of teams. OldSchoolBaller (neither did we  )

We are now making some adjustments to our schedule - Joe Newman 10/9/08 in perpetuity
