ABA Play-off eligibility has more to do with bank records than W-L records.

The last 8 teams that can afford to send 7-8 guys to the tournament make it.

The current ABA playoff format is buried in this article on the Admirals:

http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/yb/141129614
Glisson said the ABA has not decided on a playoff format this season, but that teams could host playoff games. Last season, an eight-team, single-elimination tournament was played in Nashville, Tenn.
So - either an owner of a competitive team is completely unaware

or

the ABA once again this year is waiting until the last minute (or later) to decide how to run a post-season.

Neither scenario paints a rosy picture of the league (which goes without saying).

BTW - love this line from the same article:
"We're the No. 1 team in the ABA for attendance," Glisson said. "It's been nice to have that fan support."
Really? Prove it.
He may be right, but there is no info available from the league to confirm or deny it.

Apparently no team owner has yet stepped forward and offered to pay the bills for the ABA's annual postseason mess. Of course, last year an owner stepped forward to pay for most of the bills, but didn't actually pay them.

More second-hand info about the ABA post-season:
http://www.stargazette.com/article/2010 ... s-schedule
* The New York Red Riders' scheduled home games on Friday and Saturday at the Chemung County YMCA were canceled. The games weren't rescheduled because the American Basketball Association playoffs begin March 7. The Red Riders will host a first-round playoff game.

Anyone with tickets to either of this weekend's games can use them during the Red Riders' game against the New York City Thunder at 7 p.m. March 6 at the YMCA.
So, the playoffs allegedly start in about a week.

In case anybody was curious - like OldFoolBaller.

I don't know where you got your info on the Phantoms, but their record is actually 6-4(Not that it really matters in this league, but they were to play Lake Mich this week, but the Admirals do not have Pgh on their schedule for that date).

The post with the standings is three weeks old.

Doesn't matter, anyway - Joe is making $*!& as he goes along. There will be no 'seeding' process; those who can host, will host, regardless of record. Those that can play, will play - regardless of record.

Don't be surprised to see one or more of the 'travel' teams admitted as some sort of 'reward' for their efforts this year (read: to fill out a bracket).

And not one shred of news from the league website since January 14.

Tell me again what makes this league so appealing to new investors?

As of yesterday I've found 3 playoff games listed:

Regular 2/28/2010 Riverside Rainmakers @ San Diego Surf (cancelled)
Playoff 2/28/2010 Las Vegas Aces @ San Diego Surf

Regular 3/6/2010 Cleveland Rockers @ Lake Michigan (cancelled)
Playoff 3/6/2010 Detroit Hoops @ Lake Michigan Admirals

Regular 3/6/2010 Carolina Kings @ West Virginia Blazers (cancelled)
Regular 3/6/2010 Appalachian Rapids @ West Virginia Blazers (cancelled)
Playoff 3/6/2010 TBD @ West Virginia Blazers

I'm hoping to get to the WV game.
