He doesn't have too.

Following Joe's email train the man only needs to run 3x training camps invite 150 guys at 100 dollars each.

150 x 100 = 15 000
15000 x 3 camps = 45000.

This pays Joe's 10k and leaves 35000 in the bank when the team folds before a single game is played.

Remember "if a game isn't played, it hurts no one". So nobody needs to sell any tix or play any games. (.......and Joe wonders why we grumble.)

Another one who should know better (but if he did, he would not have joined in the first place...)

Lake Michigan Admirals Added To 2009 Expansion Teams
April 29, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA)

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it has added The Lake Michigan Admirals to the teams scheduled to begin play this December in the fast growing league. "In 2008, Chris Glisson, the owner, and his brother Marty "Doc" Glisson put together the Knoxville Thunderbolts which made the ABA playoffs in their inaugural season ranking 8th in the ABA Power Rankings. Two of their players were named to the ABA All-Star team, and the team was Nominated for Franchise of the Year, and Doc was nominated as Executive of the Year. So, when Chris said he wanted to do a team in Southwestern Michigan, we were thrilled."

The team will be called The Lake Michigan Admirals which was the winning entry in a contest that included local community participation. The organization is owned an operated by the Lake Michigan Sports Entertainment Group, LLC. Chris will be the CEO. A life-long resident of Southwestern Michigan, he was born in Grand Rapids as the youngest child of five boys to Wanda and Reverend Eugene Glisson and graduated from Coloma High School where he was an outstanding student-athlete playing four years of varsity baseball, football and basketball.

During his college years, Chris played four years of varsity baseball and football for Olivet College in the MIAA Conference and graduated in 1992 with his BA in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. He entered the automotive industry holding positions in sales, finance, management and as a principal broker. During the housing boom, he tired his hand in as a mortgage broker and spent time in Southern California as a missionary on an Indian reservation. "Although my working years have been rich and varied," stated Glisson, "nothing has brought me the fulfillment I have found being an ABA team owner. During the Great Depression, our society turned to baseball as a form of affordable family fun and escapism. I'm hoping to show the public a similar experience with electrifying professional basketball, outstanding half-time shows by local talent, and getting involved in the community with fund raising and special events."

The two brothers also formed an ABA travel team called the "Tri-City Racers" from Bristol/Johnson City/Kingsport TN. Chris has been married for 15 years to his wife, Sara, and they have two young daughters and reside in St. Joseph, Michigan. For more information, visit http://www.lakemichiganadmirals.com,

"During the housing boom, he tired [sic] his hand in as a mortgage broker" - I don't want to know how his hand got tired...

Go to the team website for more info - there is nothing there but the splash page (I do like the logo, however - but why do these new teams insist on using the old 10-panel Rawlings ball?).

So, does this guy even remember WHY he formed the Tri-City travel team? Allegedly set to become a full-time team this year, the Racers were used to fill in open dates for teams that could/would not travel. So, he goes and adds ANOTHER team to this mess???? Is common sense really in such short supply?

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) announced today that Syracuse NY is the first ABA expansion team set for play in 2010. “We are especially pleased and proud to announce this team,” stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. “Originally, we thought the team would be playing next season. However, the owner, Charles “Chuck” Iavarone, was recalled by the US Army in 2008 to serve for the 39th Military Police Company from Minden LA and is in a combat tour in Iraq where he is serving as part of the Army’s Police Transition team. Chuck anticipates his return to the US in September. We hope that he returns safely. We are very proud to have him as part of the ABA.”

A 2001 graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School, Chuck attended Canisius College before enlisting in the US Army Reserve as a Military Police Specialist. He was mobilized in 2003 to conduct Law Enforcement Operations at Fort Drum NY where he received the Army Commendation Medal for aiding in the rescue of two soldiers injured during a helicopter crash. While serving in the Army Reserve, he served a two year term as Town Supervisor of Salina NY. “Owning a professional sports team has been a dream of mine,” stated Iavarone. “I cannot wait until I return home and get started. Meantime, thanks to the internet, we follow the ABA closely on all of the different web sites and we receive all of the bulletins from the league. We’ve already named our team the Syracuse ShockWave and have several people putting things together at home while I’m away.”
ABA National Headquarters
He apparently hasn't followed the ABA all THAT closely - especially in the Syracuse area (Bullies? Raging Bullz?). I wonder if he will be on the hook to pay the outstanding bills by the last team to burn thru town like Sherman thru Atlanta?

ABA National Headquarters
You mean the basement on Holiday Drive right Joe? I've never heard of ABA National Headquarters except when I once googled ABA and was misdirected to the American Bar Association, who do, in fact, have a 'ABA National Headquarters'.

This incarnation of the ABA does not have a ABA National Headquarters, it has a basement, in a house, on a residential street, in a neighborhood, in Indianapolis, owned by Joe.

Thankfully he doesn't Meyes.

I was merely trying to show that ABA World Headquarters is run out of a basement and probably overextended my argument.

If Joe owned Indianapolis we'd have the Indianapolis 10k instead of Indianapolis 500, it would be a race that didn't have a start time, or an date on the schedule instead Joe would send out a Power Rankings of cars apparantly in the lead.

of course they'd all be going in circles still but Chuck the Writer would be blogging about the Utica 10k.

ABA RETURNS TO KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
18-Jun-2008
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association announced that it will return to Kansas City, Missouri this season under new ownership.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We have been waiting for the right ownership to return to KC. And we've found him in Kansas City native Milton Thomas. Kansas City has a great ABA heritage and we believe that Milton can bring it back with gusto."

Thomas began playing basketball at a very young age. He was a high school athlete playing with AAU teams traveling through the US and is associated with many well-known D-1 players and professional players from the Kansas City area. He played basketball for a Missouri college before becoming ill and suffering from two strokes at the young age of 19.

Since his recovery, he has shown his unrelenting determination and potential for change and success. At age 22, Milton began his path to entrepreneurship by starting his own mortgage and construction company where he succeeded as a leader and professional with success in managing multi-million dollar mortgages, home equity and investment product operations. As a mortgage broker, he has successfully used innovative solutions with critical thinking as a negotiator who can apply extensive knowledge of industry to growth opportunities. He and his dedicated crew of skilled professionals have rehabbed homes in Kansas City area and provided affordable housing for individuals as well. Milton has also played part in rehabbing several multi-unit properties and obtained certification for the state of Missouri as well. Serving as a business consultant for over five years, he has aided other entrepreneurs in establishing businesses, building clientele, creating marketing materials and developing effective sales strategies.

As an active role model in his community, Thomas has assisted in hosting several events in Kansas City and aided the youth to learn new skills and find new opportunities through his own company. He has exceptional communication skills and decision-making that has enabled him to become a positive force in the city and is determined to make a difference to those in need.

Currently, at age 29, he resides in Kansas City where he continues to uphold his standards of diligence, success and leadership. Continually seeking new opportunities to make contributions to the community and changing lives of every person he comes into contact with. "Being a part of the ABA is an exciting opportunity and a great challenge. I am really looking forward to both and will give this 100% to make our team one of the best in this terrific league," stated Thomas. "George Sheehan said, Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. I think Mr. Sheehan was talking about me."

ABA Adds Dallas to 2009 Expansion Teams
May 25, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA)

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the ABA will return to Dallas Texas this season with a new team - the Dallas Generals. "Talk about an interesting ownership group, this is it," stated Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "The team will be owned by Monopoly Entertainment and run by it's President/CEO, Keio Gamble, a company and person with a huge background in both sports and entertainment being actively involved in film, multimedia, music, publishing, radio & TV, sports and touring segments of the entertainment industry. We think this is going to be quite an operation."
"The mission of the Dallas Generals basketball team is to provide quality sports entertainment while helping others to realize their dreams," said Gamble. "Our value lies within our commitment to dedication, discipline, excellence, integrity and respect. The purpose of our organization is to develop and further the high aspirations of our very talented players, coaches and staff. The ABA is the perfect vehicle for our organization."

Assertive, confident, creative, determined and innovative are just a few of the characteristics of Gamble. Born in Dallas, a graduate of Wilmer-Hutchins High School, a BA from Prairie View A&M University, eight years in the US Army Reserves, he is poised to be the next entertainment mogul in the US. Having successfully executed special events like the NBA All Star Weekend 2006 in Houston, the Texas Relays in Austin, the Prairie View vs Grambling Weekend in Dallas, as well as operating arena football teams, Keio has integrated the business of sports and entertainment into a neat package and is proof that hard work, dedication, discipline, integrity and respect pay off.

The team has already secured Taurian "Mr. 720 aka The Air Up There" Fontenette as the centerpiece of a very strong team. "We will be very competitive in a very tough division," added GM Carlton Dixon. "We are going to be a standout organization in a great professional basketball league. Count on it." For more information, email info@dallasgenerals.com or call 214 475 3884. The web site and additional information will be available shortly. Or visit http://www.abalive.com, http://www.abastatcentral.com or http://www.abagives.com.

ABA Mag is still there . . .

Just asked Joe to not put us down for every single press release. The list of websites and emails is a bit long at times. So taking us out of the mix is no problem, because people can just go to the aba site and see the link to the mag.

Fair enough, but I still think having 5 sites for one league is too excessive.

Couldn't all of the content be combined in one universal address, with one-click apps to bring up the various entities? It's not that difficult, and fairly common.
