ABA RETURNS TO KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
18-Jun-2008
Indianapolis, IN -- The American Basketball Association announced that it will return to Kansas City, Missouri this season under new ownership.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We have been waiting for the right ownership to return to KC. And we've found him in Kansas City native Milton Thomas. Kansas City has a great ABA heritage and we believe that Milton can bring it back with gusto."

Thomas began playing basketball at a very young age. He was a high school athlete playing with AAU teams traveling through the US and is associated with many well-known D-1 players and professional players from the Kansas City area. He played basketball for a Missouri college before becoming ill and suffering from two strokes at the young age of 19.

Since his recovery, he has shown his unrelenting determination and potential for change and success. At age 22, Milton began his path to entrepreneurship by starting his own mortgage and construction company where he succeeded as a leader and professional with success in managing multi-million dollar mortgages, home equity and investment product operations. As a mortgage broker, he has successfully used innovative solutions with critical thinking as a negotiator who can apply extensive knowledge of industry to growth opportunities. He and his dedicated crew of skilled professionals have rehabbed homes in Kansas City area and provided affordable housing for individuals as well. Milton has also played part in rehabbing several multi-unit properties and obtained certification for the state of Missouri as well. Serving as a business consultant for over five years, he has aided other entrepreneurs in establishing businesses, building clientele, creating marketing materials and developing effective sales strategies.

As an active role model in his community, Thomas has assisted in hosting several events in Kansas City and aided the youth to learn new skills and find new opportunities through his own company. He has exceptional communication skills and decision-making that has enabled him to become a positive force in the city and is determined to make a difference to those in need.

Currently, at age 29, he resides in Kansas City where he continues to uphold his standards of diligence, success and leadership. Continually seeking new opportunities to make contributions to the community and changing lives of every person he comes into contact with. "Being a part of the ABA is an exciting opportunity and a great challenge. I am really looking forward to both and will give this 100% to make our team one of the best in this terrific league," stated Thomas. "George Sheehan said, Success means having the courage, the determination, and the will to become the person you believe you were meant to be. I think Mr. Sheehan was talking about me."

While I have no use for what he's hustling, I have to say that Joe's ability to hustle is impressive.

We need Sam Hill to run this one through the "Joe-Speak 5000".

I just love this zinger.......

"According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "We have been waiting for the right ownership to return to KC"

Its great. Any sentance that kicks off with "according to Joe Newman........." has more red flags, alarm bells and flashing lights than a riot in Shanghai.

and then............. "We have been waiting for the right ownership to return to KC" which is another beaut. Just a beauty. What he means is he was waiting for someone, anyone with a 10k market reservation fee.

As always Milton, good luck sir.

My goodness, I felt like I was reading a resume and cover letter for this guy. I'd like to know the "Other" Story...why did this guy have 2 strokes at 19...that's gotta suck!

Sounds like an impressive comeback story though. That's what I'd like to hear about, because reading about another ownership group forking out money to the ABA is getting old!

Please forgive me for spoiling your fun with facts. It's not like I disagree.

It's not like the lady isn't networked, for that matter.

Looks like they'll play a 4th year in Portland, anyway.
