I've read a couple of things that are pointing to a merger of the IFL with the CIF, but not really a merger. It seems that most of the remaining viable teams in the IFL are going to join the CIF. Depending on who said what, the name may or may not be changed to the IFL, but the league will keep the CIF rules in terms of salary cap, veteran rules, local player rules, etc. Nothing yet on playing rules (there were only minor differences between them for the most part).
A couple of expansion teams are in the works:

Also heard a couple teams may be going to NAL. Lots of rumors floating. The rumors seem to be - NAL, AFL & CIF growing, IFL contracting or folding.

Attendance does matter-
Notice that none of these leagues post attendance numbers they post everything but the most important (stat.) they have, this is the biggest selling point they have yet the NAL,CIF,IFL post nothing in regard to how many do you have buying tickets.
So just what is the selling point to perspective sponsors, simply make up the numbers as you go.
CenTex who probably didn't get over 700 at any home game for the season looks to possibly be one and done,if not they should be the Dallas Marshalls couldn't give away tickets while showing the games live locally this season.
And the owner announced the Steam would use the same model, clearly didn't learn from his Dallas venture, he even said it cost them money to broadcast those games live he mentioned that at some point there were 250,000 viewers now he didn't say if this number were for the 6 home broadcast total or for one game he said that the sponsors were given a return on the sponsorship with this model, question would be how. Because in any given week if the product is any good they see those numbers easily (live events cost even more)
And yes while the CIF champion Revolution can beat the brakes off of most indoor teams they can't draw 1,000 per home game.
In looking at the press conference of the Steam return in name only yesterday the same ownership of the Marshalls will own the (Steam) interesting that the marketing director was going to be the same guy who ran the Marshalls.
Not picking on these teams particularly just they have glaring problems, Wichita Falls of the IFL has stated its possibly moving because of low attendance numbers and rising operational cost.
In short merge all you want but until they get it, the money pit continues

WF owner DID NOT say low attendnace he actually said attendance was good at 3k a game (which I think is questionable) in his TV interview. What he did say was that the TRAVEL costs were high. Plus we know salaries are lower in CIF.

That would be a good point except, for the fact info. also stated that Tulsa looked like a good relocation spot.
Now why would a team who were averaging 3k want to leave? the current location (city) if placed within the CIF works Amarillo just down the road sort of Dallas and Allen also within 3 1/2 to 4 hours away.
Everyone already knew the math didn't fit within the IFL they being the only Texas team, it was simply a matter of time losing that type of cash before it caught up with the bottom line.
Again if they were averaging 3k it was maybe year one they had those numbers, but that was on the heels of the outdoor semi pro team that was drawing solid numbers until year two when they lost there way and greed entered.
The junior hockey team folded in that city because of low attendance numbers. And their operating system was set up much better for success than indoor football.

Saw this a few days ago as well.
IFL statement from late July also alluded to it with SF absent from those supposedly committed to IFL in 2017
http://www.goifl.com/sports/fball/2016- ... 0725k72l6f
Rumors are all teams could go to CIF, or 2 team to NAL or they play 5 team IFL.... who knows...

the way this type of 5 team league talk has worked, in the past is that they simply become a division into another league.
At least that will be the behind the scene conversation taking place. the negotiation is probably on going as to cost and or discount offers being made toward the group of teams.
The IFL tossed around some impressive numbers in that article, but something is wrong with them because teams are rolling away from the league.
