The Spokane indoor football team unveiled their new team name, logos, and colors today as they prepare for their inaugural season as a member of the Indoor Football League in 2016.

The newest expansion franchise of the IFL will be known as the Spokane Empire. A name with geographical ties to the Pacific Inland Northwest, also known as the “Inland Empire,” is a region encompassing the surrounding Columbia River basin and North Idaho. As the commercial center of the Inland Northwest in the early 20th century, Spokane was also known as the “Capital of the Inland Empire.”

The team’s logos, created by Graphic Designer Brian Gundell, feature locomotive and railroad elements to pay tribute to Spokane’s railroad history that served as a catalyst to region’s population and economic growth in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
