New head coach/general manager Richard Davis has quickly made his presence felt in the organization, looking to change the name of Bemidji’s Indoor Football League franchise, and much more.

For a team that has had its issues, both on and off the field, in two short years of existence, Davis hopes to move quickly to make sure those days are in the past.

Aside from a possible name change — a new LLC was recently created under the name “Minnesota Axemen” — Davis started his tenure in Bemidji by making sure the team’s finances were in order.

You also risk estranging the fans and sponsors of Bemidji. "What, this isn't our team anymore? Are they planning to move?"

Bemidji is a horrible name, and also sound minor league to a t. Maybe they want to sound bigger.

I don't think the people of Bemidji and wherever the other team is based are in danger of confusing one team for the other. In any case....it's the IFL, man.

Your right same the reason Bemidji made that change was because they had low attendance they hope the change increases that.

I do tend to agree with that, sound more like a home team to the citizens of Bemidji but to those outside of that town it sound minor league, and it's just a really odd name to boot
