Guard Continue to Tell Untruths

Post by xball44 » Sun Mar 18, 2007 12:43 pm

I had to see for myself what exactly an NIFL pre-season game looked like, so I made a trip over to the Crown yesterday. Wow! The Greensboro team didn't even have matching helmets or uniforms. Both teams looked bad, but you have to give them a pass, it is pre-season.

What is embarrassing is that the Guard reported to the local paper (no one from the Fayetteville Observer attended the game, telling huh?) that over 6100 people were at the game. I counted roughly 1500.

The Owner and the front office have not changed, and continue to spin lies, too bad for the people of Fayetteville.

I realize the Owner of the Team is lacking finacially, but the presentation was really poor. Can we get someone with some money behind the team?

Hmm. I guess without actually being there and seeing the crowd, I can't make a judgment. That would be really disappointing if they weren't telling the truth, though.

guard game

I was there- both teams wore practice jerseys by design since it wasn't a "real game", so I would give greensboro a little slack on this one. Some of the Guard players had slight variations but all wore the same black practice jersey.

The crowd filled about 3/4 of the lower bowl and had a decent number of people upstairs. There were clearly more people last night then many of the games at the end of last year. I think the crowd was well above 1500 but 6100 may be pushing it a little.

The game presentation was very similar to last year. I thought the crowd energy was good.

presentation

Instead of saying the "presentation was poor", does anyone have any constructive ideas? I'm sure the guard office would appreciate any good ideas -either on this board or by calling the office. Maybe getting Guardnoize in the next dance-off? I certainly wouldn't want him knocking over BudLight cases to win beer.

Question

What's the highest attendance the Guard had last year?

Got it

The Guard had one good attendance game at 4185 last year. But a paltry 1241 in the next-to-last game? Yikes! Looks like 2000 was about average. Over 6000 yesterday for a preseason game? Reality check...

I've been to every game at the Crown and I will GUARANTEE you that there was over 5000. Now, 6100 may be pushing it, but it was one of the biggest crowds I've seen there. The upper section doesn't hold any where near as much as the bottom section. Remember, the top is only on the sides, but the bottom goes all the way around. To only say 1500 is just idiotic, no offense.... :p

Daryl, are you telling me that they had more people in a preseason game than any regular season game last year? Guard fans, give me the facts...

If it was free, and promoted well, I can understand how you can get so many people there.
