C I F L Who's in... Who's out?

Post by DFWCC » Wed Aug 20, 2014 5:16 pm

Concerning the C I F L.
Who is returning and who is not.
Starting with the Champs

Erie ( my team :) ) will return... already selling season tickets
Marion, I expect they again will have the game in central Ohio.
Saginaw, most surely unless they want to shoot themselves in the foot.
NKY (Highland Ky) returning for year two
Chicago, found a home arena and psych'd to go.
Detroit, fiasco in the motor expect to set up in Flint
Port Huron, once proud franchise... gone. But a possible rebirth here
Dayton, expect to go dark one season ??? (right)
Bluegrass (Lexington) Warhorses bye... arena woes
Ky Xtreme (Louisville), Arena oversized hurt the bottom line
Iffy, could return with right sized arena.

Expect 1 defection from the LSFL/CPIFL merger.
Bloomington makes most sense.
A bird said to watch Indiana.

I see these as the only viable franchises:

Erie
Marion
Saginaw
Northern Kentucky
Chicago

With only 5 teams, I question the overall health of this league, five teams is barely enough to have a league, Erie and Saginaw, and maybe Northern Kentucky are essentially carrying this league, the league needs to find a couple of other viable franchises:

Bloomington
Indianapolis

Recruiting Bloomington out of the CPIFL would make sense and adding a franchise in Indianapolis would make a lot of sense, the biggest issue in the CIFL on a yearly basis seems to be the couple of slacker teams that exist each season that seem to drag the quality of the league down, it is time to push the trash to the curb.

Bloomington would need new ownership. They were in pretty bad shape this season.

Heard as a passing note.

Is Green Bay ready to make the switch from the
I F L to the C I F L?

Green Bay to the CIFL would not surprise me at all. Green Bay was largely non-competitive last season in the IFL, their former GM has accepted a job with the Colorado Ice, if Green Bay are looking to cut costs, then the CIFL makes sense. It would not even surprise me if Green Bay threw in the towel all together.

What is the latest with the CIFL, I have seen nothing about teams being added to the league, 4 or 5 viable franchises seems awfully thin for 2015, any new news? I have seen nothing more about Green Bay or Bloomington defecting to the CIFL.
