Erie did it again.
Erie did it again.
Erie did it again.
Erie holds the all time highest scoring professional Indoor Football league
record for all leagues beating some hapless team 138-0
Today Erie played a hodgepodge team of pretenders supposedly masquerading as Port Huron, Mi. A Terry Foster team (need I say more).
PH had 2 1st downs in the game. 1 on a penalty and the other on a tackle that the refs were generous about.
Erie scored at least 15 TD's in running up the score to 114 to 0.
Maybe the CIFL will get the message about letting amateurs play against
a professional team.

No, Erie needs to put a phone call into the PIFL. This is pretty much what you'll be stuck with in the CIFL.

What are you doing here?
There are two prime teams in the CIFL, Saginaw and Erie.
That includes good reliable mgt and a strong fan base along
with marketing and quality advertisers.
Ex, Erie's home office is open 52 weeks a yr. People see, people believe.
Viable teams good for the CIFL are Dayton, Marion, NKy & Chi.
They are not there yet but have potential. They either need to step up
or realize that they may not be the owner to reach success.
With the addition of H'burg, Trenton (former foes) + Lehigh Vly could make
the PIFL a strong option travel wise. All three are closer then Chi, Saggy or
NKy.
We might see the PIFL in 2016. A lot depends on CIFL 2015 version.
Another shaky yr and oh well! who knows what might happen.

Erm, I dunno that I'd call Dayton, Chicago, Marion and Northern Kentucky viable. In my book viable means they're close to breaking even or turning a profit, drawing well, putting forth good marketing and acting in an overall professional manner.
Those teams may be doing ok on the field, but I haven't seen enough off the field for me to consider them viable.

Erie needs to have a call into the PIFL now, not next year. They can't afford another season with three games against teams worse than any preseason game the team might conjure up.

I'm a stickler about teams that run up the score. The problem here is, since indoor teams only carry game-day rosters of 20 to 24, depending on the league, it's not like you have a bunch of back-ups you can start putting in. Maybe they need a mercy rule or a running clock rule for some of these situations.

This thread should really be titled, "The CIFL did it again."

The original GLIFL rule was that a home team that got up by a certain margin (I want to say 35) could start bringing in practice squad guys.

Heard both sides of the Mercy Rule debate.
These are grown men. Its not "everyone gets a participation trophy".
The fan pays his #10/$20 for 60 min of football not a "let's not hurt anyone's feelings, we'll just shorten the game, cheat the fans and give everyone a championship ring".
Yeah.. that's a stretch, but these replacements knew what they were in for
when they stepped on the Erie turf.
Also the Explosion may have wanted make a statement to the league or any other team that might want to show up with beer belly brawlers to play against finely tuned athletes.
It basically comes down on the CIFL, who generally are a good league.
They need to before awarding a franchise
#1 vet owners (integrity, financial viability etc)
#2 performance bond for yrs 1 & 2
#3 Tentative arena lease in hand (meeting min standards)
#4 Proof of turf or contract for one to standards.
#5 Follow up 5wks before season.
I think these steps should help the league in its credibility.
