Only six teams in the league

Post by Ozman » Fri Feb 12, 2010 4:48 am

With six teams in the league, the CIFL needs to do something to attract teams. Not much of a variety of teams to play, it will get boring to watch the same teams over and over. Otherwise its time to combine with another league such as the IFL or AIFA.

Each team plays each other twice.

They are comparable to the SIFL, which has 7 teams.

The SIFL only has 6 teams playing this year.

The AIFA has 13 teams but the east and west never play each other until the championship, so you basicly have a 6 team league and a 7 team league.

Even the IFL , with 25 teams, has teams playing each other 3 times during the regular season.

The CIFL should be fine. :)

In this economy it's wonder there are even 6 teams. The Midwest is feelin
the tanked economy pretty bad. Mad props to the CIFL for getting the 6
best franchises possible at this juncture. Look for expansion in 2011 & beyond.
Oh and BTW. A CIFL team (Cincinnati) is playing an IFL team (Bloomington)
in a preseason game. Natepreds, we'll see how your comparison fairs after
that match up.

Is anybody taking bets on the proposition that all three of Chicago's indoor football teams will play a full season?

I wouldn't know why not. I can't speak for the AFL Rush or the IFL Slaughter,
but the CIFL Cards only have a 10 game schedule with 6 home dates. You'd
think that old Bonecrusher management will put a good team on the field and
w/ the (new) CIFL budget structure, they should make a good showing & have
some funds to spare.

I don't know about that. One team (Columbus) is going to be invisible. While expenses exceeded income, at least the AFL team did some some marketing and got butts in the seats.
The Cincinnati team is going into one of the most badly scorched markets in indoor/arena football history (perhaps only nearby Dayton is worse). The I-75 corridor from Lexington to Troy is lined with the corpses of dead franchises.

COUGH rumors COUGH

If it happens they will be the laughing stock of the league . . . and that's saying something. No sponsors, no fans, no $$$.
Let the Mayhem Continue!
