So, why was it necessary to get a new domain name?

I'm assuming it's shorter and easier to type and remember.

Why? Are there really any CIFL teams for 2010?

Hard to say. Perhaps it was another case of a league not paying their webhost and got shut down. At this level that sort of thing happens way too much.

Really? What other league at this level has had to do this lately other than the CIFL?

Or, believe it or not, it could have been a decision to just go with the shorter URL and start phasing out the longer one. The CIFL main site never was taken down during the move, all that was down was the forum so the data from over five years could have been preserved.

Don't you love it when people take a web site being down as a sign of the apocalypse?

It's happened before. I guess no one around here remembers the old days.

I wouldn't take a web site being down as a sign of the apocalypse, but
seeing 75% of the teams floating face down in the water doesn't exactly
portray stability does it?
