NE SURGE Have no MONEY?
NE SURGE Have no MONEY?
I had the pleasure of speaking face to face with a player today that played for the surge last yr, quoting him, Lucas has no money or didn't share it with the players as stated in thier contract. It seems the players from the Surge stopped getting paid after the 3rd game last season AND got kicked out of their hotel, some of them while they were out of town on their bye week. Hotel came in and threw all of their stuff out front of the Hotel. There was only one place for them to eat which was a local church that cooked for them a few times a week. The other nights they went there to eat all they got was cookies to eat. Then when the players complained about it, Lucas had had them eat in the hotel restraunt. That didnt last long cause there were 8 players staying there that needed to eat. At a cost of $10.00 per player plus tip if there was one ur looking at 100.00 per meal. Again after getting tired of paying cash for them to eat they did get ANOTHER place to eat. NOW according to the player the Arena they played in was over half filled up or at least the bottom bowl was filled making it at least 4 to 5,ooo people a game. Where was the money going if ALL the players were not getting paid. But from what this PLAYER said they have a person of intrest filling out paper work to give to the courts or whomever is going to handel this and to make sure the guys owed money are going to get their pay. Question is again What is going to happen this year. Some have returned and some have moved on to legit teams or shall I say Arena teams. Someone who was not qualified or had the financial backing to own a team was let in. This is the question that SHOULD be answered from the League Office. I like Jeff and Eric but this gives the league a bad rap and no credability for an OWNER not paying his players again. The more leagues, the more players get to play. I said from the start, and again hearing that a team from Milwaukee is having financial issues already. Why are the people allowed to own a team with no money ? And if this is all true about players not getting paid last yr is the league going to do anything about them getting their back pay before it gets into litagation. If these guys were able to get a judge to rule on their behalf, could the league get shut down till they paid up and made things right. Cause this player said that he and 5 others have gave depositions to a someone in a or shall I say a man who wears a suite and says "YES YOUR HONOR" Please do the right thing and could someone reply to what happened regarding this. If there are anyone who thinks this is false info. The player is right here and will answer any questions you may have. Look forward to being at the first home game up in Milwaukee.

I would have to say that this post surprises me for a couple reasons, and to be honest, this stuff is not message board material, but I will comment once...
1. No player from the Surge ever called our office to say anything to us. *Note, the season ended in July of 2007.
2. There were players that were let go, I do know that, however it was brought to our attention of significant destruction to the housing team provided, which resulted in the team having a large bill with the hotel because of it.
3. Referring back to number one, no one called and this is the first I have ever heard of any such claims of any kind about the Surge, and let me tell you, players do call and they do let us know what is going on when there IS a problem.
I am not calling you or your guy a liar, but it says specifically in the contract that each player signs that if there is any problem of any kind they are to bring it to immediate attention to the league. When I say immediate, I would say when it happens, not ten months later. Our phone is open, have the player call so we can get the ownership of the Surge involved to get to the bottom of this.

You are probably right about the contract's, well you are. you own the league, and he may have or they may have not called but that may be the only thing that may not seem legit. If you reach any of the players from last years team and ask them if they didnt get paid after the 3 game and they all say yes and the team couldn't prove WRONG and they did in fact did NOT get paid would the league take any action to fix this. And if so what would it be. Players getting their back pay. After writing the first part of this i was givin a phone number to a player who was just released from the Gladiators Arena team who did play for the Surge last year and he confirmed EVERY part of the story and then a few things more. And this was one of the teams star players. And yes one of the guys who had to move out of the hotel. He stated that the hotel didn't get their money and that was why they were kicked out. He doesnt or didnt know who gave me his number or who the other players was and told him I just wanted his side of the story. Now if they both say the same thing about not getting paid what should we think. And yes you are right and wrong about this being message board material. If in fact these guys DIDN'T get paid after the 3rd game and bonusus were not paid to the players and didnt have a decent place to eat then it is something that others like me and all football fans who do follow your league can and should talk about. And do have the right to post these things and discuss why owners like this are allowed into a league that is trying to do the right thing and alow players to continue their playing career. But as long as guys like mr lucas are allowed to do this they should be exposed, and exposed to the future player who might end up there. Why did they have to eat at a CHURCH, NO ONE, and I mean NO that I know that plays football, and you know me. I KNOW ALOT of players, and GM and Owners would never ever do that to thier players unless they have no RIGHT, SOUL or MONEY to own a team. And if you allow that to happen or continue you are just as guilty. But u and your brother seem to want to do the right thing for the league, so make Lucas pay these guys or have decent food for them. Dont treat them like jerk off's. So is it true that the OWNER OF the NE SURGE DID NOT PAY HIS players after the 3rd game?

Boy, it's a good thing all those teams ponied up the $10k apiece that blanketbob was so kind to tell us about awhile back, it looks like it might be needed already...
People stress the violence. That's the smallest part of it. Football is brutal only from a distance. In the middle of it there's a calm, a tranquility. The players accept pain. There's a sense of order even at the end of a running play with bodies strewn everywhere. When the systems interlock, there's a satisfaction to the game that can't be duplicated. There's a harmony.
There were approximately 3,000 fans at each of the two games that I attended in Worcester in 2007. I have no idea if the claims of players not being paid last season is true or not; if it is true, though, I find it hard to believe that no one complained about not being paid until now. The Worcester Telegram covered the team pretty closely, and to the best of my knowledge there were no reports of players not being paid.
Sour grapes. Notice these stories are from a former player
and one that was just cut. Sounds like they are simply
regurgitating the same old tired BS from last season to
justify why they are sitting at home.
But this is good. People love to try and tear down success.
As the other indoor leagues flounder the CIFL looks to be
on its way. If the Surge are meant to be, great. If not they
will fall by the wayside just like the multitude of NFL, AFL,
AF2, NIFL, UIF etc etc teams before them.

If the players didn't get paid beyond week 3, the players would have walked like the Stampede.
If you don't let the people with the money know you prefer the NIFL game system, you won't see any stable leagues copying the NIFL game system for your enjoyment!

I noticed only Jeff responds on message boards of late.
Is Kevin Keller still with the league?

Dude, a lot of people (including me sometimes) post negative remarks about you on this board, but your statement above is 100% correct. If the player quoted in the first post in this thread is correct, that means that every player on the 2007 New England Surge played nine regular season games and two playoff games without getting paid, and not one of them complained even once until a few days ago. Not likely, my friends.
