I have to admit I haven't followed the AWL, but what a setup: Instead of paying players like a professional league would, the players pay the league like in slo-pitch softball...$3,500 a season? It's been a long time since I've read it, but this is like that story in Tom Sawyer where Tom is supposed to whitewash Aunt Becky's fence and ends up charging the other kids to do it for him. What a country!
