Matt Padgett as Jackals manager could mean...

Post by Bonhomme2010 » Tue Feb 28, 2017 8:28 pm

... The Jackals slashed the team's budget!

Which could explain Joe Calfapietra's departure for greener pa$ture$. It's a nobrainer that they hired a guy with no experience at the bottom of the pay scale while Joe was at the top. It follows the cost cutting on the administrative side of the business. One can also except a lower payroll on the field with fewer experienced players and more players moving during the season.

It doesn't automatically mean a smaller number in the win column as Joe had a lot more knowledge and better contacts to procure players, 2 qualities hampered by a serious lack in the leadership collumn. Matt Padgett could have much better communication skills which could translate in a better overall performance, especially in the playoffs. As we have seen in recent years, better individual players don't necessarily make better teams!

The best of luck to the new man of the hour!

One thing I have noticed about Padgett is his habit of twirling a pitch count device...lol

He is also not as slow to pull a pitcher as Joe was.
