Where's the coaching in Winnipeg?

Post by Bonhomme2010 » Sat Jul 27, 2013 2:36 pm

Baseball is a game of statistics and a few of those stats reflect on the poor performance of the Winnipeg GoldEyes coaching.

Month..Team ERA..OAVG*..WHIP**
May........3.16.......242......1.18
June.......4.46.......270......1.46
July........5.03.......285......1.45

Compared to the RedHawks
Season...3.40.......254......1.36

The pitching is going south from one month to the next.

The manager, Rick Forney, has been a pitching coach for this team for a good many years and pitching was supposed to be the team's strong point this year! Isn't it the pitching coach's responsibility to identify the problems on his staff and fix them. Jamie Vermilyea doesn't seem to have a clue and his boss is not giving him much help!

Could it be just a plain old leadership deficiency?

* Opposition on base percentage
** Walk + hit per inning pitched

Forney's always been very easy going as a manager which has produced some very hot and cold results over the years. I'd like some consistency but as long as he's here you take the good, (playoff years and a championship,) with the bad, (circling the drain, choking out of a couple of playoff series'.)
And that is all the people need to know!
