Former Cyclone Pagan making impact with Mets
Eight years ago, Angel Pagan was a raw 20-year-old outfielder that was the spark plug to the Brooklyn Cyclones’ 2001 New York-Penn League co-championship team, which came in the team’s inaugural season. Although the Puerto Rico-born Pagan was a terror on the base paths, stealing a league-leading 30 bases and hit a solid .315 for Brooklyn, Pagan was never a prized prospect, and never expected to be much more than a spare part of a major league roster.
Pagan is one of the few bright spots in Flushing these days. He was fun to watch as a youngster in Coney Island... glad to see him do well in place of Beltran.
