Portland Arena Issues

This is the obligatory "send in the commissioner to back up your threat" move.

The "not-quite-one-year-old" ownership group for the Winter Hawks threatened a lawsuit of the city- or worse- last month regarding promises the city made to upgrade parts of Memorial Coliseum.
While the city proposed upgrades, the people who currently own the Rose Garden also manage MC. Thing is, Paul Allen has signed a promissary to buy "back" the Rose Garden, so there's a lot of limbo going on while that issue gets worked out. The Winter Hawk owners are probably fighting an uphill battle to get their concerns aired. I know the Mayor is anything but gung ho about upgrading sporting facilities when he feels that should be a task for private concerns.
