Growing city on Vancouver Island that can help Victoria with costly ferry-aided road trips, check.
Arena proposal, check.
Wants to rent arena to potential team owner... huh?
We'll see how this plays out.
One thing for sure... the Kootenay Ice are gasping and grasping in Cranbrook. They seem like they've got one more year there.

I did not realize the Kooteney ice were in trouble in Crambrook I thought that was a solid franchise. I guess I've been out of touch from the WHL for too long.
Nanaimo had a team in the 80s called the Islanders.if I remember correctly, they were the old Great Falls Americans.

"If games are missed, it hurts no one" ...... ABA CEO Joe Newman 2/9/09
Due to numerous threats of legal action from certain people.......all of the above is my opinion only and it should be noted that I have never invested in the ABA. It is simply one mans opinion.

The answer: 80% no.
I arrived at the conclusion that this is really a "mandate" against an arena, especially considering it was primarily for hockey. In Canada. Someone trying to convince me otherwise says the way it was presented (rushed through council) was the real reason for that vote. I'm not convinced.
