Ben Groulx is a joke

As a coach in the AHL he was WAY over his head. No way could he relate to the veteran players in that league. Rochester had more talent than half the teams in the AHL last year and was a Caldar Cup contender on paper. They underachieved as a team both seasons under Groulx. He was run out of town as their head coach after two dismal seasons. Florida (Rochester's parent NHL team) and Rochester both bounced him a year short of his contract to avoid further embarrassment. Rumor had it that he didn't even run the practices, leaving that to his assistant coach. At league and team functions or during interviews he mummled and stumbled like a zombie when questioned sounding like he didn't have a clue what he was doing or being asked. Fans in Rochester would hang him if he ever came back to town. LOL

In a game seven against Abbotsford which Rochester lost after having a 3-1 series lead, he benched star forward Graham Mink, because he was over the "Vet" limit and didn't know how to alter his lines. It was a resounding general consensus that he was throughly out-coached in the series and his young players didn't know how to play through adversity. After the first week, Mink is now the leading scorer in the AHL and at least three other players refused to sign with Rochester following the season fearing he'd return as their head coach and signed with other teams. Every other coach and team in the league knew he was lost and beat Rochester with lesser talent all season. He's better off coaching 12 to 16 year olds who play "kick and chase" hockey. He's more a baby-sitter than a hockey coach. Trying to coach in the pros, he's lost! Rochester now has a coach who knows how to make line combinations and is winning with half the talent "GrooL" had there last year. Keep being a big fish in a small pond Groulx. The Rochester Americans and the American Hockey League say good riddance!!
