AHL West
Ticket price ranges
ECHL
Ontario: Lower Level 21-55 (24-55 for weekend games), Upper Level 10-23 (10-20 for weekdays)
Bakersfield: Lower Level 19-35 weekdays, 21-40 weekends, Upper Level 12-16 weekdays, 15-18 weekends
Stockton: Lower 15-30, Upper 11-15
AHL (only found weekend games, as base ticket prices aren't easily found)
Worcester $35 to $15
Portland $30 to $20
Manchester $40 to $15
Norfolk $30 to $11
To put it succinctly, I'm probably paying more per ticket for the WHL Portland Winterhawks than any of yous bums. Not that this pattern holds throughout the WHL.
OKC is folding at the end of the season. Edmonton owns both the OKC (AHL) and Bakersfield (ECHL) franchises. You do the math.
I'd love to see the Oklahoma City Blazers reborn. Maybe move them back out to the Fairgrounds to lower the rent. Their rivalry with Tulsa and Wichita was the stuff of legend. The only downside is the ECHL doesn't have the fights the CHL used to have.

Over at hfboards, there's support for the writer of this article as someone who's broken other semi-related stories.
So this places the following:
LA to Ontario
Edmonton to Bakersfield
Calgary to Stockton...
...and one of the historical detractors to this story arc is pretty darn sure Brian Burke (now with the Flames) is the source for the information; which means he's come around to grudging respect for the arc. Mind you, we don't know exactly how long the initial phase of the Adirondack lease runs, but Calgary could easily pull off a swap with another franchise.
Anaheim to San Diego, or Long Beach, or maybe Anaheim.
There's another article coming from Worcester intimating that the Sharks might move -short term- into the Tank in San Jose.
There's probably 5. Arizona? Vancouver? Colorado? Stay tuned.
I wonder if Arizona could put their AHL affiliate in Vegas. The NHL needs something to gauge the interest in hockey in that town since they seem to want to put a team there so badly. Who knows, if it works out, maybe they could eventually just swap places.

Maybe they could find an arena that will let them play. Las Vegas's ECHL franchise is inoperative this season because the Orleans Arena basically kicked them out. But that team's ownership apparently couldn't find another arena to play in, even though there are at least 2 other arenas with ice-making abilities available in Las Vegas.

Latest has the Norfolk Admirals poised to move to San Diego with an ECHL team replacing it in Virginia.

This article provides a speculative summary of the possible moves to create the AHL Pacific Division.

The only "known" thing that could happen this year involves the New York Rangers wanting out of Hartford. That might end up with the Rangers in Bridgeport, while the Islanders take Hartford and move them to... get this... Nassau Coliseum. Mind you, numerous other possibilities.
I'm thinking that possible moves of Springfield, Utica, and a handful of others are not on THIS YEAR's table. Give those another year? Could be wrong there.
The clear message is that AHL owners, now finding the NHL has more TV money, is following that money instead of their current fan bases. Such is life in hockey anyway.
This is being interpreted as other moves are also in the works. We are looking at potential relocations of other teams in the league, not necessarily to the Pacific Division.
