Uhl Now The Ihl
Uhl Now The Ihl
Does anyone know what was the reason(s) why the uhl folded and started the ihl? just wondering if anyone had some info about it.
Really it didn't fold, much more it was reformed. The UHL had lost most of its
teams (Primarily in the Central and Northeastern United States) due to low
interest or moving to other leagues.
The league decided to focus its interest back in the Northern tier of the
Midwest. The rebranding pays homage to the days of the old IHL, whose
primary locales were in Michigan, Indiana, Ontario and Ohio.

Adios, OSC message boards. (2007-2017)
I was going to say tarnish the memory...especially since they also have a "Turner Cup" now. But yes...rebrand to play off the memories of the old circuit.

This league (NIFL) is like a frickin' cockroach. You could throw a nuclear bomb at it and it would still survive

So I'd rather spend a quarter of an ABA franchise to repair my car, as opposed to spending a franchise and a half to get a new car that might have some planned obsolescence that causes it to break down 5 days after the end of the warranty period.

This has worked out well.........
I just wish they woulda done it after the 05-06 season when Danbury was caught cheating, Adirondack couldn't get a lease, Richmond and Roanoke folded, along with Motor City. I feel bad for Elmira(not just being a fan)but what they had to go through, it was ridiculous, only non Midwestern team. The happenings with the Danbury and Adirondack situations happened far too late in the offseason. The funny thing is, if Adirondack had no lease how were the Phantoms allowed to go there?
