Utica Wreckers to join UHL for 2007-08
(with apologies, and thanks, to Chuck "The Writer" Miller)
ST. CHARLES, MO -- The Chairman of the UHL Board of Governors, Paul Pickard, and the owner of the uncrowned 2006-07 ABA and 2007 USBL champion Utica Wreckers, Joe Newman, announced today that the Wreckers will be joining the United Hockey League for the 2007-08 season.
Newman, at today's press conference, explained that "the Wreckers have proven our superiority in basketball, and since hockey is a lot like basketball, but on skates, we should be able to adjust quickly and earn our third championship in a year".
When asked about installing a team in Utica, NY just a few weeks after allowing the league's Elmira Jackals to leave, Pickard said "from what we've seen, the Wreckers have always been creative in their scheduling, and we have no doubt that the Wreckers will continue to do so as UHL members".
Newman indicated that coach Micheal Ray Richardson will remain with the team, and star forward Valerio "V.D." Dawson has already signed for 2007-08. The Wreckers are considering the slogan "Catch V.D. On The Ice" for their 2007-08 marketing campaign. Newman also announced that tryouts for the 2007-08 edition of "Utica Mary and the Wrecked'em" will be held in the near future. To show his support for the project, Dawson will be one of the judges, and is expected to inject his own high-impact style into the judging.
Further details are expected to be announced at the UHL league meetings in Las Vegas on June 20.

This was funny about 2 months ago. It's not now. Let it die.

Not even funny. Hijacking brilliance is just poor.
Wouldn't it be better to announce the Johnstown Chiefs are being bought and moved to Florida?
HAHAHAHAHA, close. They weren't bought, the owner decided to move them to....Greenville, South Carolina!
But was this Utica Wreckers team supposed to be out of Utica in NY State? If so, why did they never end up playing? Because Elmira bolted for the ECHL and Danbury and Adirondack folded?

I'm going to put this here, and I hope that you find it among the over 9,000 threads you've replied to.
There is no need to post a reply to every thread about hockey on OSC. Especially if the thread is THREE YEARS OLD. And even more especially if you don't know anything about OSC, and therefore don't understand the context in which my (really, really bad) attempt at a joke was written.
Thank you.

This board seems rather dead for the most part, kinda like the IHL's future.
