Please welcome the Allen Americans to the Central Hockey League!

Logo is hard-hitting, plus Texas has a strong patriotic streak (and is home to the self-proclaimed "America's Team" in football)...Hope somebody gets the logo on a white background soon!

Without an animal or bird as an icon for a club, I won't like Allen's logo much. At least the Sundogs have two suns with their letter S, the Blazers and the Rush use letters. Its the same with all of these name contests that new clubs go through. The names that win aren't what I would pick, or most anyone else either.... The winning names usually win by a small margin, most of the time not even by a majority.....

I have come to the point the name or logo really don't matter much.... All that is required is to have one....

You mean a clear majority, like 50% +? Because having the most votes is a majority.

A lot of true fans are at that point. "I don't care about the logo or name as long as it's good hockey." Doesn't mean you can't ***** about it, you're just glad to have hockey. The QC fans who stopped going when the team became the Flames instead of the Mallards were idiots and they're probably the fans who are now refusing to go to anything other than the AHL.

But that's off subject...

I've said it before but I'd love to see a CHL team in La Arena in Monterrey.

Considering the success of ice hockey in Laredo and the Valley with the Bucks and Killer Bees, I would think it would be a success. I have seen Hispanic kids skating in the Dallas ice rinks. Hockey is an International sport, whether on roller skates or ice skates. The key expense is the sheet of ice....

Ice hockey is basically soccer on ice, using sticks instead of their skates/feet to move the puck/ball with a few extra stick penalties involved. While many Americans have problems with the offsides rule, Mexicans pick up the reason for the blue lines quickly....

The question remains is will the Mexican government allow so many Canadians to play there?

That's a good question. I do know Arena Monterrey does have ice capabilities and uses them frequently/.

Most of the Mexican National Ice Hockey Team (yes, there is one, ranked 38th in the world behind Ireland and ahead of New Zealand) consists of players who either grew up in the U.S. or Canada, or have dual citizenship.
The team played several CHL teams a few years ago and the results were not pretty.

But Arena Monterrey is a first class facility. I would like to see a CHL club play there, of course with international players from Canada and elsewhere. The CHL draws well in Laredo and the Valley with the Bucks and Killer Bees.
