WHKA Confirms Edmonton Area Franchise Added -- League Expansion in Washington State Also Underway -- CEO Smith Comments on Legal Action

VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/20/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) confirmed the planned Edmonton, Alberta area franchise has been sold to an Edmonton investment group. League officials stated the new owners plan to announce a name and team logo for the franchise shortly, and at a time which will be convenient to its marketing efforts Further discussions are underway in the Alberta Province with other investor groups planning franchises throughout the region.

League officials also completed a series of successful meetings in Seattle, Washington this weekend which addressed expansion plans with US investor groups for new teams in the Washington State area. The WHA had previously stated league expansion plans will ultimately increase the number of hockey franchises operating under the WHA umbrella from six to sixteen teams.

WHKA CEO, Ricky Smith stated, "We will be reformatting our divisional structure as a result of all the new teams coming into our league. The face of the WHA will look quite different for the 2007-2008 seasons. We survived some difficult problems during our first season. We feel these problems were the primary result of lack of good faith and even fraud from those responsible for former finance arrangements for the league. We do not anticipate we will have these same problems again. Good things are happening very fast and we are planning to start our new season with a bang."

Smith also added, "WHKA shareholders, and hockey fans alike should be pleasantly surprised with the level of hockey they see in our league next year. We made great strides during the 2006-2007 season and we expect the momentum generated from our successes will continue to improve the level of play coming from our young men. We think we have some of the best coaching available in Jr. Hockey and League Commissioner Bobby Hull and I do not anticipate this will change with the expansion. "

When asked about the currently hot topic of legal proceedings with Global Developments, Inc, Smith retorted, "WHA's attorney began what will become a large series of responses last Friday night. We are now engaged with these people in the courts and expect to be able to comment any day now on the claims we will be making not only against Global Developments, Inc., but against all the parties involved in this sham against our league and our company. When it is all over, we expect the courts will award full and all remedies requested. The evidence collected by our investigators is so mind boggling; we think winning this case will be a stroll in the park. Of course, it will be in the hands of the courts, but when our shareholders see what kind of evidence, we have of wrongdoing; we think they will surely agree."

In further developments, the WHA expects to soon announce details of scheduled National Alliance Cup play slated to begin on April 1st in Toronto, Ontario. In the National Alliance Cup, the Champions of The WHA, "The New Westminster Whalers" will be paying a series of games against the champion of the GMHL. The coach of the WHA Champion New Westminster Whalers is former NHL St. Louis Blues great, Gary Unger.

It's been known in some circles that the WHA was interested in including expansion franchises in the USA, but this is the first time they've publicly declared making progress in that area

The only American Jr B league in that region is the Northern Pacific League (Norpac). They have numerous issues of their own, and this year, some of those situations could be putting the league's current composition into play.

Their entire Rocky Mountain Division --- with franchises in Helena, Bozeman, Billings, Butte, Cody (Wyoming) and Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) has given notice that they want to withdraw from Norpac, for the purpose of re-activating the dormant America West Jr A league (which would be Jr A in name only for a few seasons to come). Meanwhile, the league champion Fort Vancouver Pioneers are embroiled in accusations of paying players under the table (among other things) and their coach and general manager have accepted lifetime bans from USA Hockey after their run at the Jr Nationals has ended.

Those two gentleman live and breathe hockey, so it was a surprise to most that they willingly accepted such a drastic banishment. I've been hearing, though, that the Pioneers have been fed up with Norpac for quite some time and have made inquiries about jumping to the WHA since last summer. In that case, they've almost certainly tipped their hand that they've committed to playing in Ricky Smith's league next season.

Here's an article from the Columbian (based in Vancouver, Wa, across the river from Portland) that virtually says as much:

http://columbian.com/sports/localNew...news114735.cfm

The key passage: "One of the (options) is to continue being in NORPAC," Loftgren said. "But there's other options that we as an organization are exploring. At this time, I don't really want to comment on any of those ..."

This is of interest to stock speculators because if half of a league is looking to go their own way and a strong franchise in the other half wants to secede, it doesn't leave much of a league for the remaining teams.

A seasoned outfit like Ft Vancouver wouldn't be making such a bold move if it didn't know it had a strong possibility of other nearby teams moving with them. That's simple economic reality.

If this occurs, it would be a tremendous boost for the WHA, because it's far easier from a logistics point of view to absorb existing franchises than it is to activate expansion franchises. It would also excite any possible expansion group to know they're going to have established teams joining them.

And, referring back to the Rocky Mountain division's intentions, they have to wait for USA Hockey to sanction the revival of the America West league. If that doesn't happen, they could be prime candidates to flock to the WHA, too.

You can be sure the passage above has got the Pacific Northwest hockey community sitting up and taking notice of the WHA. It will be interesting to see how they respond.

Major NEWS! WHA expands into the US!

Post by starboy » Fri Mar 23, 2007 12:06 am

Guys. This is big. The WHA is expanding into the USA and has found teams willing to jump from other leagues and bring teir established franchiises into the WHA. :p

The World Hockey Association Announces Expansion Into USA -- Four Teams Submit WHA Expansion Ownership Forms for the Washington State Area

Mar 22, 2007 3:15:00 PM VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/22/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) today confirmed that as a result of previously announced league expansion meetings held in Seattle, Washington last week, four US-based ownership groups have now submitted forms for WHA expansion franchises planned for Washington State in the USA.

League Commissioner Bobby Hull revealed that the four US teams will be coming from a combination of franchises which were previously a part of other leagues and newly established teams created specifically to play in the WHA.
WHKA CEO Ricky Smith commented, "Things are moving along faster and better than Bobby Hull and I had originally hoped. The Northwestern USA is a market in which the WHA has wanted a significant presence from the start. When the US ownership groups saw what the WHA had planned for our hockey league, they responded enthusiastically. We are now in the process of reviewing the applications and hope to be able to announce all four deals have been inked very shortly and announce the Washington State cities involved in the expansion."

Assuming the four new franchises are approved, the WHA will have now added five new teams to its fold. Earlier this week, league officials confirmed an Edmonton, Alberta-area WHA franchise had been created by an Edmonton investment group.

CEO Smith stated, "WHA blueprints ultimately call for the expansion to take the league from six to 16 teams for the 2007-2008 hockey season. It looks like we might be halfway there already. We couldn't be more pleased with our progress. Four or five years down the road, we think we will be in the driver's seat. When people think of Junior Hockey, we believe they will think of The World Hockey Association first and foremost.

SO, you're associating with a team that brought lawyers into an informal process- they would have been thrown out of NORPAC. USA Hockey still has their jury out on whether they will continue with this year's playoffs.

Associating with less than ethical people doesn't impress me... certainly not enough to buy stock.

I also agree with someone on the USA Junior Hockey board... other companies are strong enough that they can't be raided easily.

If this works out, cool. Heck, I'm a soccer fan, I have some affinity for professional development, and I think we all know USA Hockey leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not buying in to this one.

Before it's all over, the WHA might end up being Junior Hockey in the USA and Canada. I'm then going to look back on my .006 purchase of this stock and smile from ear to ear if that happens.

In the meantime, hockey will benefit.

WHA Gets Two More Alberta Teams--Announces Alliance Cup Schedule

Post by starboy » Tue Mar 27, 2007 4:33 pm

WHA LANDS TWO MORE ALBERTA TEAMS! PLAY SCHEDULED FOR NATIONAL ALLIANCE CUP IN ONTARIO!

The World Hockey Association Snares Two More Teams in Alberta Province -- Also, League Commissioner Bobby Hull Releases National Alliance Cup Series Information

Mar 27, 2007 9:30:00 AM
VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/27/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) revealed today that two more ownership groups from the Canadian Province of Alberta have submitted WHA expansion franchise forms for teams planned to be included in the 2007-2008 WHA hockey season.

Assuming the two teams are approved by WHA officials, the league will have three new Alberta Province teams currently committed to play during the upcoming 2007-2008 season.

Earlier last week it was confirmed that an Edmonton area ownership group's team had been approved as the first Alberta franchise. At approximately the same time, WHA representatives announced it had received four new expansion form applications from a combination of new and existing teams from the USA in the Washington State area.

Officials stated that discussions are ongoing with additional prospective ownership groups in Alberta and British Columbia to complete the task of expanding the number of organizations under the umbrella of The World Hockey Association from six to sixteen teams.

In additional developments today, League Commissioner Bobby Hull released information on The National Alliance Cup Series slated for play this weekend. The series will find the WHA Champion New West Minster Whalers coached by former NHL St Louis Blues great Gary Unger challenging Ontario's GMHL Jr. A Champion, the Bradford Rattlers.

Last January, GMHL President Bob Russell announced the GMHL had affiliated with the World Hockey Association with the express intent of creating National Championship play in an East meets West format pitting the Champion of Ontario's GMHL against the Champion of British Columbia's WHA.

Plans call for the National Championship Alliance Cup to alternate each year between the GMHL's "eastern" Ontario location and one of the WHA's "western" locations of British Columbia, Alberta or Washington State in the USA.

This year, the series will be played in Ontario at the home rink of the Bradford Rattlers, Bob Fallis Arena. Game times are on Friday, March 30th at 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 31st, at 1:30 PM and Sunday, April 1st at 6:30 PM.

WHKA CEO Ricky Smith commented, "What can I say? Due to our much publicized problems with our former finance partners, many had counted us out. Negative press speculated quite wrongly that we may not even be able to finish our season. Now our detractors can see that not only are we not out, but the WHA is no longer even down. It is truly a testament to the quality of people we have involved in our organization that we are now successfully expanding the WHA to more than twice its previous size and at the same time, playing this exciting National Championship series against the Jr. A GMHL champion Bradford Rattlers."

Smith added, "I want to publicly thank Commissioner Bobby Hull and Coach Gary Unger as well as advisory board members Terry O'Reilly and Brad Park for all the hard work they put into this season to make the WHA the most talked about new hockey league in years. I am also very thankful for all the tireless effort put forth by the rest of our staff and volunteers. As the years pass, I am sure we will all be able to look back on the very tough and trying circumstances we faced as a blessing in disguise. It all prompted the WHA to stand up in the face of adversity and fight to win. We have shown who we are and we are not quitters. Just as we try to teach our young men to never quit on the ice, we have never quit in our commitment to give them a great hockey and life experience."

WHKA (.006) Receives Eighth and Ninth Expansion Franchise Forms -- Ownership Groups Representing Teams From British Columbia and Alberta Apply to Join WHA

Market Wire "US Press Releases "

VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/28/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) announced today that league officials have received expansion franchise forms from two additional ownership groups representing teams from the British Columbia and Alberta provinces of Canada.

League Commissioner Bobby Hull's office stated that a combined total of nine new and existing teams currently playing in other leagues have now submitted forms to join the WHA. The application tally currently contains four teams from Washington State in the USA, four teams from the Alberta Province of Canada, including the announced Edmonton area franchise, and one team from the British Columbia Province.

The WHA expansion effort ultimately should result in an expansion from six to sixteen teams for the 2007-2008 hockey season. Commissioner Hull recently revealed that the expansion will result in a restructured divisional format for the league once all the ownership groups for teams in the new cities have been approved. Discussions remain ongoing with additional investment groups who have shown interest in backing teams for the new season.

WHKA CEO Ricky Smith, commented, "Things are going according to plan. Bobby Hull and I have always envisioned the WHA will eventually cover the western half of Canada and the northwestern region of The United States. The reception we have received thus far puts our second year business plan for expansion on track to meet these goals. This is quite an accomplishment under the circumstances."

Smith added, "The league has suffered enormous damages which we expect to be addressed in court very soon, but we have forged ahead nevertheless. The WHA is here to stay and we believe our players, our shareholders, and our hockey fans will all benefit from what we are doing."

The World Hockey Association Hires Law Offices of Michael E. Kulwin in Nevada for Legal Defense and Counterclaim Against Nexus Asset Holdings, LLC and Global Developments, Inc.

Mar 30, 2007 8:30:00 AM
VANCOUVER, BC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/30/07 -- The World Hockey Association (PINKSHEETS: WHKA) today confirmed it has hired the Law Offices of Michael E. Kulwin in Nevada for its legal defense and upcoming counterclaim in US Federal Court against Nexus Asset Holdings LLC and Global Developments Inc.

On February 16, 2007, The World Hockey Association (WHA) was named as a defendant in a complaint filed in the United States District Court of Nevada by Nexus Asset Holdings, LLC (Nexus), and Global Development, Inc. The WHA firmly believes that the allegations by Global and Nexus are without any merit. The WHA and the individual defendants, William R. Smith, Robert M. Hull, and Peter Young, will vigorously defend themselves. WHA has engaged the Law Offices of Michael E. Kulwin in Nevada for the express purpose of filing a defense and counter action against the plaintiffs as well as other individuals associated with the plaintiffs.

WHA CEO Ricky Smith stated, "I am not going to elaborate very much here. We are going to let our response and forthcoming counterclaim speak for itself. Shareholders can be assured that we are diligently at work on the resolving the issues concerning this matter."

John Briner And Esther Briner looking bad now.

Post by starboy » Mon Apr 02, 2007 2:40 pm

All kinds of evidence of shenanigans is being dug up against John Briner and his wife Esther Briner. I have seen it on many stock and sports boards. It looks like WHKA has a lot of areas where they can attack these GDVM people.
