Hello everyone,
I'm a new poster here. Remember back in the days when Charlotte Checkers dressed three Japanese players in the team, Takahiti (?)Suzuki, Kengo Ito, and Daisuke Obara? Was that a public stunt? Greenville Grrrrrrowl had a South Korean player too. But in recent years, there hasn't been any imports to the ECHL. Are they done with the import experiments? Anyone wanna shed some light?
Notable names: Yutaka Fukufuji - by far the best import from Japan in the hockey world (Reading Royals/Manchester Monarchs/LA Kings)
Likit Andersson (Thai/Swedish player)
Alex Kim, brothers Steve & Joe Suk (former Macon Whoopees)
Former overseas Asian ECHL players

Jim Paek
FYI, former two-time Stanley Cup champ Pittsburgh Penguins D-man Jim Paek (first Korean-born player in the NHL) is now the assistant coach of the Red Wing's AHL farm team Grand Rapids Griffins.
Paek lives in the Cleveland, OH area with his wife and two young daughters. He was head coach of the SPHL's Orlando Seals after spending two seasons playing as a player/coach in the British League in UK.
