Its that shifty time

Post by DFWCC » Thu Jul 09, 2015 1:58 pm

Its that shifty time of the year. I know its premature for any announcements,
but are there any inklings or rumors about who may be shifting leagues.

We all know this is bargaining times for leagues to rob from one another to
replace those stolen by other leagues. :o

Really, there are many good reason to change.
Most common is to reduce travel costs which is a huge drain on the budget.
especially airfare or long 4 day trips. OUCH!!

One has to wonder will a Harrisburg team make a reappearance?

Will ASI Panthers (Reading, Pa) make a jump to the PIFL?
Have they had enough support to move up?
A natural fit with Lehigh Valley and Trenton nearby.

Will Trenton return with its low att numbers?

Erie had a horrible yr at the gate between injuries last min date change
and a poor on field performance.

Saginaw Mi, Sting might be looking along with the Marion Oh, Blue Racers.

The Marion Racers' Facebook page says the team gave the XLIF its resignation in early June and will join a different league with an announcement this summer.

Suspicion confirmed.
I strongly expect Saginaw to be looking.
Might there be talk of a new league forming from some of the ol CIFL group.
Suggesting Marion and Saginaw of course, throw in the Chicago Blitz and if they can pull Erie out of the PIFL, add 2 more teams and ... Wah-lah.....
There you have it, a start.

Nothing concrete, just rumblings.

I would think that Hbg would be on the short list of AIF expansion teams. It's already been done and there is some what of an established fan base. An arena for indoor football- Farm Show Arena and it fits right into the AIF footprint with York and Reading both within a 45 minute drive. ASI won't make a jump to PIFL they were only drawing a few hundred fans to their games. It's a shame, not sure where all the old Express fans went because Reading was always a good place to see a game. If Cape Fear wants to continue to exist really their only options are the PIFL and the AIF. Not sure how things were left when they parted ways with the AIF last year but I would think they are better suited for the AIF then the PIFL. Unfortunately the AIF seems more concerned about quanity then quality when it comes to their teams. They should have retained York, ASI, Chicago and Saginaw and shown everyone else the door. Then pursue established teams like Cape Fear, Marion and possibly Erie and build back to a respectable league.

Calm before the storm... or what???
Been awful quiet out there.
Been on vacation and hiding from keyboards so I'm anxious to hear
who's comin' and goin' where. Who's staying and who's paying or not paying.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a Saskatoon team in the IFL in 2017. I have the Billings Wolves talking about a February 19th game in Saskatoon (which I think means relocating their 1 new home game as the schedule jumped from 14 to 16) and are actually in negotations with SaskTel Centre, our 15,000 seat arena for the game. I could see if it was successful that Bruce Urban, the National Lacrosse League's Saskatchewan Rush's owner, bringing in an IFL team. It is purely speculation on my part about Bruce Urban and 2017.

But it sounds like it is pretty close to a go for the game in Saskatoon. I'm getting good at having events spring up, I also have the WHL's Saskatoon Blades and Edmonton Oil Kings playing a preseason game in my current city of Lloydminster in a few weeks time. Amazing what a tweet with a suggestion brings hey?

Now to get a Indy baseball game and a D-League game for next year.
