From their "news release":

THE UNITED FOOTBALL TEAMS OF AMERICA, AN ASSOCIATION OF SEMI PRO FOOTBALL TEAMS,

WILL CONDUCT AN ORGANIZATIONL MEETING IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA ON
SUNDAY JANURY 25, 2009.

THE UFTA WILL OWN AND OPERATE THE WORLD INDOOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE, THE CONTINENTAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE OF AMERICA, AND THE UFTA SPORTS NETWORK IN 2009.

THE WIFL TEAMS CAN BEGIN PLAY AT ANYTIME IN 2009. TEAMS MAY JOIN THE LEAGUE AS LATE AS JULY 1, 2009 AND STILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PLAYOFFS THAT WILL BEGIN ON AUGUST 1, 2009. TEAMS ARE PERMITTED TO PLAY GAMES OUTDOORS UNTIL THEY CAN SECURE INDOOR VENUES. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE PLAYED ON AUGUST 29, 2009

THE CFLA IS AN OUTDOOR ELEVEN MAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE. TEAMS MAY BEGIN PLAY AT ANYTIME IN 2009. TEAMS MAY JOIN THE LEAGUE AS LATE AS OCTOBER 1, 2009 AND STILL BE ELGIBLE FOR THE PLAYOFFS. THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WILL BE PLAYED IN FLORIDA ON DECEMBER 19, 2009.
Wow. This seems so... organized. You can join a league 4 weeks before the playoffs and participate in them?

How... ABAish...

I'm setting the odds that either league will play a single game at 20-1.

The odds that they'll be sued for misappropriating the WIFL logo (which is still copyrighted, even if the league is dead)... much higher.

It wasn't back for long. From the UFTA website:
The UFTA WILL OPERATE THE UFTA SPORTS NETWORK IN 2009. WE HAVE CANCELLED OUR PLANS TO OPERATE THE WIFL AND THE CFLA IN 2009.

But Jim Chambers isn't done yet...

http://uftamerica.net/nationalchampionship.html

(1) The UFTA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP will be owned and operated by 200 minor league team owners. Each minor league team owner will own one-half of one percent of the UFTA JOINT VENTURE.

(2) The cost of a one-half percent interest in the UFTA JOINT VENTURE is $500 at the present time, and this may be paid in monthly payments.

The goal is, apparently, to have a 64-team national minor-league football championship tournament leading to a championship game in December 2009.

One thing that worries me about this... now I realize that anyone can link to anything, but Jim Terry's PG13football.com links to UFTAmerica.com. I'm not saying ANYTHING here. Nope, not at all.
