The Oklahoma City Hoops have joined the New Era Basketball Association, NEBA President Kevin Williams announced on Thursday. The Hoops will begin play in the upcoming 2016 NEBA season, which tips off on November 13th.

NEBA is expanding at a fast rate and is providing an opportunity for some of the most talented basketball players in the world to showcase their skills. NEBA also provides those players with a chance to be seen by international scouts.

The Hoops are owned by Cheri Edwards and Jonathan Reed. Oklahoma City has long been a hotbed for basketball on several levels. Expectations are high concerning the Hoops’ impact in both NEBA and the Oklahoma City community.

“We are very excited about all the upcoming things for this season.” Reed said. “We are going to have some great young talent that will be exciting to watch.”

Edwards hopes that the presence of the team in Oklahoma City will help bolster community events and youth leagues there, as well as providing a great family atmosphere.

“Oklahoma seems to be a hot spot right now when it comes to professional teams.” Edwards said. “This is a great opportunity for us to provide some fun, family entertainment as well as developing young men in their professional goals for basketball.”

The mission of the NEBA League is to teach, develop, and expose basketball players to the NBA, NBDL, and International Scouts, while providing the community an exciting brand of basketball. New Era, EA Sports, BOP TV, 20/20 Apparel, Hoop Culture, and Ball 4 Life have all been named official sponsors for the NEBA League. A Partnership with 20/20 apparel will make the NEBA League the only minor league basketball association that will have players with their own shoes. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
