Austin Knights Join NEBA

Post by dmbishop » Fri Oct 23, 2015 5:17 pm

The Austin Knights are joining the New Era Basketball Association. NEBA President Kevin Williams is proud to announce that Austin is the latest team to join the fast-expanding league. Austin will begin play in November at the start of the 2016 season.

The Knights are managed by the partnership of Tommy Haydon Jr and Travis Tholen, both of whom became friends with Kevin Williams over a year ago and wanted to join NEBA when they saw how successful it has become.

“I’m excited to go,” says Tholen. “I can’t wait to get started and bring big things to Austin.”

Tholen, who runs the operations side of the Knights, became interested when he saw several teams joining NEBA. Mr. Tholen has worked in sports leagues ranging from minor league hockey to professional basketball and is passionate about bringing good basketball to the community in Austin.

Tommy Haydon Jr shares Tholen’s enthusiasm. Haydon Jr, a self-described “passionate basketball fan” runs the marketing side of the Knights and has experience working in real estate as well as doing business consulting.

“It’s a nice thing to do for the community,” Haydon Jr says.

With the addition of the Austin Knights franchise, the New Era Basketball Association has firm grip on the southern United States and brings NEBA to 20 teams for the 2015-16 seasons.

The Austin Knights’ season opener is November 15th at noon against the Memphis Lions.
