Name and Logo?

Post by kahunakats » Fri Feb 03, 2012 1:58 pm

Here's a quick question. I know that someone in New York owns the rights to the name "Continental Basketball Association" by virtue of registering the dormant name. Does that include the rights to the trademarks, logos, etc. that came with the CBA or merely the name itself?

Not sure of what they all own, but I found this on usbasket.com from July 2011:
It has been brought to our attention that Chris Warren has announced the launch of the New Era of the Continental Basketball Association with a new logo and website to be introduced at a later date.

For the record, Demperio Sports & Entertainment, LLC secured the trademark rights to the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) name and logo in June 2009 and has every intention of using this intellectual property to reform the CBA in 2012. Mr. Warren and the New Era CBA are using our intellectual property without permission at this time.

The actual Continental Basketball Association (CBA) will continue to use the logo many or our fans know and love and will be launching a new league website in August 2011 with the assistance of Infinity Pro Sports (http://www.infinityprosports.com/). In the meantime please feel free to visit our Facebook page at http://www.cbaworldhoops.com during the transition period.

We apologize for any confusion that Mr. Warren has caused and any inquiries, including expansion opportunities, should be sent to info@cbaworldhoops.com.

Didn't I see somewhere that someone owns the rights to the USBL name and logo? What about it and the WBA? Will these names ever resurface or will they be like the CBA and just sputter along without ever actually playing a game?

While not playing basketball, the USBL is still in business.

So, .20 cents a share, do I understand that correctly?

Yes. And the are entertaining offers with an asking price of 3/4 of a million dollars for the league that hasn't played in five years and is selling at 20 cents a share.
