The passing of Ron Santo

Post by alkalinefan » Fri Dec 03, 2010 10:18 pm

I just heard that Mr. Santo passed away yesterday(actually on my b-day).I'm kind of sad after hearing this.I've always had a thing for the "Cubbies" and Mr. Santo had more passion for the Cubs then anyone. My uncle once told me how he watched Santo jump up and click his spikes (many times) when heading to the clubhouse after a Cubs win when at Wrigley Field.I enjoyed listening to Ron and Pat Hughes do Cub's games together on the radio while driving thru the back roads of Northern Illinois during some of my road-trips.He was unpolished broadcasting(just like Al Kaline was when doing Tiger's games) but he told it like it was.I'd take a Ron Santo or Al Kaline over twenty of these cookie cutter ESPN guys.PS I'm taking a break from worrying about the Cruisers
