It's December.

They start in March.

Yeah, right.

Detroit is 4th in a field of 4 for the next 2 franchises... essentially because the other 3 have soccer stadium plans and Ford Field doesn't have Atlanta's "wow factor."

The people who built that "pitch" no longer own the team, and the taxpayers were not on the hook for it.

Does that really need to be sorted out today?

This may be meaningless, but here goes...

My fellow fans are young and don’t remember when public stadium funding was done for the benefit of the city that built it MORE than the teams playing in it. They’ve just seen all the hose jobs. Part of the attraction to MLS (and there are exceptions) are the number of privately financed stadiums (or in my local case, a mostly privately financed renovation and now a completely privately financed expansion)... and only one relocation spurred by being kicked out of a college football stadium. It’s a large swath of MLS fans that frankly hate the American sports cartel, which is why they- more or less- want to see soccer done “the way soccer does it.” Cruyff knows my attempts to rationalize with said people fall on more deaf ears than a stadium of Kiss fans just beginning to leave.
