The Steel took out the cap city Bulls 47-24 expected but an interesting twist to that game was missing people there were some involved with the Bulls that felt if they went into Mexico they might be able to re-enter the U.S. not that the game would have ended differently but it was affected.

And by the way great crowd in Monterrey 10,000 look for the AFL to make a run at that organization, people notice numbers like that and those kinds of numbers in this level of the game bring power so Jacksonville now has an equal stay tuned year two could be really interesting for the NAL.

The league announced that all the games will be streamed live on YouTube. Similar to the deals we been seeing in other leagues and sports.

Interesting thing is that the season really starts like today and most teams will likely have to throw together something real fast.

Columbus will be the only ones not steaming to YouTube since they apparently already had a paid streaming deal in place.

Problems looming large within NAL, Corpus shows up an hour late for its game

Afterwards the league takes over the team, that's two teams ran by the league, and questions still out as to whether the Firebirds can make it through the entire season. If they fall and the league takes over to finish the season it will strain the remaining teams, things will be interesting the rest of this season in the NAL they have five teams legitimately, with one announced expansion but spread way to thin south bound someone will need to work some magic over the off season in order for the NAL to become anything other than just another alphabet league in the game.

Corpus website is dark, and the Firebirds appear to have left the building as well.

This shakeup will cause Monterrey some conflict, though they are in no trouble of completing the season it just will cost a little more than expected.

Should the commish go down with the ship? The league could have a new one by next season.

Update Rage site is back,Firebirds nothing

More problems for Corpus Christi indoor football. The Rage, our newest team announced today they have canceled their final game of the season. They were scheduled to host the High Country Grizzlies Friday night at the American Bank Center, but decided to call it quits after going 0-9.

It was a season filled with many downers, they were pretty much blown out in every game and attendance was dismal. They averaged less than 500 fans per game. We reached out to the Rage for comment, but they did not return our phone calls. They join the likes of the Fury, Sharks and Hammerheads who failed to make it in the indoor football business. (news article)

It is of no surprise that this was the end result, the NAL itself fail in this regard as well, while the Mexico team has been able to secure a place at the power table with that attendance, it fell apart on the field. But will they return to the NAL you can count on the AFL talking with them about joining, the Sharks will probably talk with old running mates Arizona and former AFL club members who play in the league with (zona) about coming in to save the NAL as it stands today. It will be an interesting off season..

The league should be making up ground, but appears to not have any steam to close ranks on remaining IFL teams as a division.

The IFL is but a shadow of former glory and the negotiations by NAL they can't get the conversation started in its direction.

National Arena League: The Richmond (VA) Roughriders team, which announced in late July the team would be joining the NAL for the 2018 season, will now be part of the American Arena League (AAL) for the 2018 season. For its first season in 2017, the Richmond Roughriders were the champions of the league known as Arena Pro Football, which merged with the Can-Am Indoor Football League after the season to form the new AAL. As of now, the AAL has a five-team Southern Division and a five-team Northern Division that will include the Roughriders. The NAL is down to seven teams with six returning teams from 2017, plus the expansion Jersey Flight (Trenton).

The entire marketplace of indoor football is influx and those charged with maintaining something are failing, yes the CIF added but lost as well, a restructure is needed but those in charge are asleep at the wheel.

IFL has two former AFL teams including the very large market Arizona Rattlers. And a third former AF2 team. They may play with the 7 or possibly 8. But with both Iowa and AZ drawing well the league is in pretty good shape.

NAL got rid of 2 teams 1 a travel team the other was trouble from the start. There may not be any other expansion beyond NJ but that's yet to be decided. So its likely eith 7, 8 or 9 teams. But likely better ones.

National Arena League: The NAL has lost another team as the High Country Grizzlies (Boone, NC) have left the league to join the American Arena League for the 2018 season. The Grizzlies were a new team in 2017 and competed in the NAL\'s inaugural season. The NAL is now down to only six teams: the returning Columbus (GA) Lions, Georgia Firebirds (Albany), Jacksonville Sharks, Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (Allentown, PA) and Monterrey Steel (Mexico), along with the expansion Jersey Flight (Trenton). The NAL operated with eight teams in 2017, but the Corpus Christi Rage and the Wolfpack/Georgia Doom travel teams were previously dropped by the league.

This suggest the NAL doesn't have the ability to hold conversations with the IFL about merging into it as a division, but may not have options other than possibly asking what's left of the IFL for merging opportunities.

The league\'s Georgia Firebirds are reported to still be working on an arena lease for 2018. The NAL claims to be in lease negotiations for teams in six potential expansion markets for the 2018 season. (OSC Minor League Report)

With the loss of Mexico, the NAL is a eastern based league and pretty much dead on taking up a national footprint.

Also the Firebirds are dead weight they didn't finish last season without league help, so any chance that they can sustain themselves is out of the question, another example of an asleep at wheel leadership.
