Brian Woods with a scaled and cost down SL after the FXFL failed...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/s ... 248914d524

>>Peterson, a former scout for the Seahawks and Panthers, will serve as the league’s president. The league isn’t affiliated with the NFL. Brian Woods, who previously founded the short-lived Fall Experimental Football League, is the CEO.

“The Spring League will utilize a business model that bodes well for sustainability,” Woods told the AP. “We’ve eliminated the high costs associated with traditional pro sports leagues, including team travel, multiple venues and player payroll.”<<

Theoretically not a bad idea to have four teams come together in one place to play a series of games to possibly be scouted/filmed by the NFL, CFL and whomever else needs to see these players play . . . BUT

The reality is who's coming out to pay $350 on the hope to get temp housing and a Per Diem to play?

Who will be watching these players play (besides the so-called scouts)?

If they stream games online, will anyone notice?

Brian Woods is at it again!

Exactly.

$350 for Woods, Terry Shea and Westoff.
Must pay your way to/from the Greenbrier.
No pay for at least three weeks unless you have three weeks in the vacation/sick leave bank.

Woods has to be trying to sell access the hudl/Xos/DV Sport recordings of practices and "games" to individual teams as he tried to with FXFL.

He's also cleverly eliminated the revenue streams associated with traditional pro sports leagues.

At some point, hopefully soon, people will realize (as some of us did a while back) that Brian Woods has absolutely zero idea how to execute anything. Whatever his education background is, he should fall back on that. Or get a real estate license.

You know what's funny/sad? They will find 160 players or whatever it is. I do not believe they will be actual NFL veterans (maybe a handful of guys who had a cup of coffee, or practice squad guys), but I believe there are lots of guys like Wello who absolutely cannot get it through their heads that they are not NFL caliber and never will be.

People will pay. People were willing to do whatever it took to get to Florida when MLFB was going to launch. There are thousands of guys who think they can be pro football players. They can't be.

Woods will find guys who will pony up to play. What he won't find is anyone to watch the games or sign the players.
Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.

Woods is looking for NFL buyout or endorsement. I doubt that will happen, the NFL will simply replicate if they like it.

But he's rolling the dice...

In theory, this is a way to keep some veteran-type players in shape for NFL or CFL training camps . . .

Fortune favors the bold, they say and SL is a bold concept indeed . . .

Or injure then since they're running live drills.

Injury is a risk that is needed to develop and showcase skills. Hightower did it in FXFL and paid off. Josh Freeman to a small degree as well.

Sitting on a coach isnt going to get an NFL job.
