There were rumors late last week, just after the story first broke, of some investors interested in rescuing the Breakers. Fizzled for now, but there's talk of a party interested in restarting the Breakers after having time to assess options.

Will that happen? Eh.

There's still rumors Seattle is in trouble. There's also three interested expansion parties and near certainty (apparently) of a Southern California franchise. Again, eh.

The problem is what it always was.

American soccer fans only care about women's soccer on the international level. The fact that a solid US-based league only helps Team USA is lost on most soccer fans.
