The National Women's Soccer League is expected to name Orlando City as an expansion team for the 2016 season, according to the Guardian.
Orlando City has declined to confirm the timeline for adding a women's pro soccer expansion to a city that has quickly embraced pro soccer.
Lions president Phil Rawlins told the Orlando Sentinel in August, "We've made no secret of the fact that we would like to bring a women's professional team here. We continue to have dialogue with the NWSL. We've not taken that to a point where we can make any announcements on it, but we've certainly declared our interest; it's something we'd be very, very interested in. ... Our commitment to doing that remains as strong as ever, it's something we expect to do in the near future."
