Of course, the indoor football business is at the moment a year-to-year endeavor. For the Revolution, though, another successful fiscal season backed by success on the field has Benizio hopeful Allen and surrounding communities will flock to see the franchise for years to come.

“Unquestionably, this was the best year we’ve had since we started the team,” he said. “Revenues were up and expenses were down for the third straight year. We have a business that’s profitable and we really believe we’re growing roots and will be successful here for a long time.”

I'm sure their expenses plummeted after TO left the team. They went down even further after the jump from IFL to CIF. According to the stats reported by the league, they averaged just over 3,500 a game with a high of 4,381. They steadily increased their attendance until their final playoff game, which was 2,144 (I wonder what was going on in the DFW area, or the northeast suburbs to explain the drop).

You are correct, the will call window usually has about 500 or more free tickets per game in this case looks like more, but its considered part of doing business it makes the crowd appear bigger in the hopes of other's telling friends that a good size crowd attended the game and you will try to give tickets to as many eye candy women you can even if they don't understand the game. The plan is to build the game day fan base over time sometimes it works and others not so much. And yes the operating cost went way down joining the CIF which is why they did it, what is interesting is that he said they could only keep 3 maybe 4 players each year until this one and the coach seemed to want out after the season if not sooner, if one reads between the lines there are problems in that house.

Much of the time playoff tickets aren't part of mini or full season ticket packages, so teams are completely losing their attendance base once the postseason begins. Playoff games are scheduled with anywhere from less than a week to just a few weeks notice, not a lot of time for teams to sell tickets. Plus they're trying to sell at a time when there is a lot of competition for the entertainment dollar. Given all those factors, many teams at the minor league level struggle to draw regular-season crowds for their playoff games.
