PrimeTime Wins Season Opener vs. Greensboro - Apr 7, 2013

4/6/13 - Greensboro, NC: The PrimeTime Players kicked off their TRBL title defense with a 111-96 win over the expansion Greensboro Cobras. PrimeTime showed no ill effects of the trip to Jamestown early, running out to a 27-6 at the end of the first quarter. Lockdown defense by PrimeTime caused the Cobras to shoot just 3-for-20 in the opening frame. The Cobras would not go away quietly however as they trimmed their deficit to 13 at 48-35 at halftime, outscoring PrimeTime 29-21. They would also cut the lead to as little as eight points in the second half before PrimeTime pulled away for good in the closing minutes.

PrimeTime's Chris Moore(6'2" G College:Charleston Southern) made a splash in his TRBL debut, leading all scorers with 29 points on 12-of-16 shooting and adding 10 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals. Malachai Jones continued to be a double-double machine, dropping 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Terrell Smith(6'3" G College:Limestone) also tallied 24 for PrimeTime. Adrian Pickett led the way for the Cobras with 22 points while Zach Mayes chipped in 11 points and pulled down 10 boards. Jeremy James (6'3''-G) and Norman Carter (6'5''-F-85, college:Winston Salem) had 19 apiece for the hosts. PrimeTime will be on the road again next Saturday as they travel to Lumberton, NC to play the Carolina Gladiators. Greensboro will head to Charlotte on Friday night to face the Queen City Express.

PrimeTime Players Shoot Lights Out For Second Straight Road Win

April 13, 2013: The PrimeTime Players traveled to Lumberton, NC to take on the Carolina Gladiators in PrimeTime's second straight road game. The game opened with James Dillard and Thomas Pfaff combining for a quick 16 points in the paint to start the first quarter. PrimeTime then took its game to the perimeter and finished the first quarter with five straight three pointers and a 37-12 lead. The second quarter started the same as the first ended with the PrimeTime Players hitting 7 three pointers in the quarter. Chris Moore led the way from the outside with 23 first half points. The Players had an 81-41 halftime lead.

The Gladiators were never able to get started in the second, and PrimeTime continued to run the floor and shoot with a high percentage. The visitors finished the game shooting 57% from the field, including a league-record 29 three pointers. TRBL newcomer Chris Moore in only his second league game broke the league's single-game scoring record with 55 pts. Moore shot 14 of 17 three point attempts and had 15 rebounds and 12 assists. PrimeTime had 6 players in double figures. The Gladiators (0-4) next play in Lumberton against the Johnston County Nighthawks on April 28th. The PrimeTime Players (2-0) will host their home opener at Banks Street Gym at 490 Academy Street in Fort Mill, SC this Saturday at 5:00 against the SC Allstars from Greenville.

PrimeTime Players Re-Write Record Books in 180-105 Win over South Carolina All-Stars

April 20th 2013, Ft. Mill, SC: The PrimeTime Players made yet another major statement to the TRBL on Saturday evening as they set all kinds of records in a 180-105 victory over the South Carolina All-Stars. Terrell Smith set a league record with 57 points, Chris Moore continued his impressive start to the season with a league-record 16 assists, and PrimeTime set a league record with their 180 points. PrimeTime started out the game hot and never looked back as they took a 16-point lead into the second quarter before outscoring South Carolina 45-18 in the second to carry a 89-46 lead into halftime. The second half was no different and PrimeTime added an exclamation point with 52 points in the fourth quarter. Smith’s final bucket with under a minute to play gave him the scoring record for himself and his team. Smith notched a double-double in a rather rare way, grabbing 11 steals to add to his record point total. Chris Moore, Malachai Jones, James Dillard, Thomas Pfaff, and Victor Street also had double-doubles. Moore added 28 points to his 16 assists, Jones had 22 points and 19 rebounds, Dillard had 22 points and 10 rebounds, Pfaff had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Street had 10 points and dished out 10 assists.

Chase Holmes led the way for the All-Stars with 27 points. Gabe Gatewood registered the team’s only double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. PrimeTime out-rebounded the All-Stars 65-41 and forced 22 turnovers. They got to the free-throw line 34 times and made 26 of them; a far better percentage than they have been known to shoot. PrimeTime is averaging over 152 points per game in the young season and appear to be the early-season favorites to repeat as league champions. They will be in action at home next weekend against HoopForLyfe at 5:00pm at the Banks Street Gym in Fort Mill.

PrimeTime Players Hold Off HoopForLyfe, Improve to 4-0

Post by PrimeTimeplayers1991 » Sun May 19, 2013 12:56 am

April 27th 2013 - The PrimeTime Players continued their winning ways on Saturday night, defeating HoopForLyfe 140-128 at the Banks Street Gym in Fort Mill. PrimeTime shook off a sluggish start to take a 12-point lead into the first quarter break, and were able to extend it to 18 at halftime. HoopForLyfe came out determined in the third quarter, and trimmed the lead back to 12 for a while, only to see it extended back to 16 heading into the fourth quarter. The final period was more of the same, as HoopForLyfe continued to make runs, closing the gap to as little as 10 points before running out of time in their comeback attempt. PrimeTime spread the scoring around on Saturday with seven players tallying double-digits. Chris Moore led the way with 26 points and finished one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double with nine of each. Brian Mobley and Antonio Houston had 23-apiece. Houston, making his season debut after returning from playing in Germany, also added seven assists, five rebounds, and two steals. James Dillard posted the team's only double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Terell Smith had 19 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals for the Players.

HoopForLyfe saw three players notch double-doubles, led by Josh Gross with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Mark Carson had 22 points and 12 rebounds while Jonathan Hart added 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The PrimeTime Players will travel to Wilmington next weekend to take on the Sea Dawgs while HoopForLyfe will be in action again on Sunday at home against the Greensboro Cobras.

PrimeTime Players Use Third Quarter Burst To Bury Sea Dawgs

May 4th 2013 - For two quarters on Saturday night, it seemed as though PrimeTime may be in danger of being forced to make the late-night drive back to Fort Mill with a loss on their minds for a second straight year.

The Wilmington Sea Dawgs, playing at full strength for the first time this season, jumped on the Players early behind lights-out shooting from UNC-Wilmington hero Brett Blizzard. PrimeTime found themselves a step short in contesting the Sea Dawgs from the perimeter early on and consequently found themselves in a dog fight.

Terell Smith was the PrimeTime answer for Blizzard, as he buried three from behind the arc himself on his way to 16 first quarter points. It was a Smith three at the buzzer that gave the Players a 33-31 lead at the end of the first.

The second quarter started off much the same as the first, with Wilmington hitting shots and PrimeTime failing to do so. Thee saving grace for the Players was the lack of ball control from the Sea Dawgs. A good portion of the PrimeTime offense in the second quarter came off of Wilmington turnovers, allowing PrimeTime to stay within striking distance after being down by as many as eight. Chris Moore heated up for the Players in the second half of the period and helped PrimeTime even the score at 67 heading into halftime.

It was only a matter of time before PrimeTime's shots began to fall and that time came in the third quarter. Moore hit four of the Players' seven threes in the period on his way to 15 of his game-high 41 points. The Sea Dawgs could not provide an answer this time with Players center Thomas Pfaff denying Blizzard any opening outside the arch, creating a catastrophic disruption in their offensive flow. PrimeTime took a 115-96 lead into the final stanza.

It was more of the same in the fourth, as the Players hit another seven threes and completed the route in style. Smith finished with 39 points and 10 rebounds. James Dillard continued to be a double-double factory with 18 hard-fought points to go along with 13 rebounds. Antonio Houston overcame a rough night shooting the ball to finish with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

PrimeTime will be back on the road next week as they head to Fayetteville to take on the Crossover (3-2) next Saturday. Wilmington will continue their home stand next Sunday against undefeated Big Texas.

PrimeTime Overcomes Slow Start to Handle Crossover

May 11th 2013 - The PrimeTime Players won their 17th-straight TRBL game on Saturday, knocking off the Fayetteville Crossover 133-100. For the second straight game, however, PrimeTime struggled out of the gates. The Players were held to just 27 points in each of the first two quarters, recording their lowest first-half total since the season opener in Greensboro. Cold shooting and a leaky defense allowed the Crossover to hang with PrimeTime in that first half as they were down just six at the break. As has been the story all year, though, PrimeTime came out on fire in the third quarter. Chris Moore knocked down a couple of open threes while he wasn't feeding the ball to Thomas Pfaff down low. Pfaff scored 11 of his 17 points during the decisive third period that pushed the Players' lead to 16 heading into the fourth. The fourth quarter held more of the same as Moore and Terell Smith caught fire, combining for 23 of the team's 45 fourth quarter points with a total of seven threes. Brian Mobley also came to life after spending most of the game as the Players' defensive stopper. A pair of threes and a pair of breakaway dunks helped PrimeTime seal the Crossover's fate. Moore led PrimeTime with 32 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Pfaff and Malaciah Jones held down the middle with authority on Saturday. Pfaff added 16 rebounds to his 17 points and Jones finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Mobley finished with 18 points while Smith finished with 26. Vic Street tallied seven points and seven assists and Eric Mann chipped in five points to round out the scoring for PrimeTime. Fayetteville's Brandon Streeter led all scorers with 37 points while DeShawn Mclean added 24.

PrimeTime Steamrolls Queen City, 138-117

May 17th 2013 - The PrimeTime Players started off the second half of the 2013 TRBL season with a bang on Friday night, running away with a 138-117 victory against the Queen City Express in their annual match-up at Clinton Junior College in Rock Hill. PrimeTime got out to an early lead behind the long-range shooting of Chris Moore and never looked back, taking a 40-22 lead into the first break and extending it into a 72-49 advantage at halftime. Queen City could not find a rhythm offensively all night, tallying just 11 assists on 47 made shots on the night. The Express shot just 8-for-30 from behind the arc, often early in the shot clock, leading to long rebounds and fast break opportunities for the Players. PrimeTime celebrated the return of Donald Rutherford from another successful season playing in Denmark on Friday, and Rutherford did not fail to impress, taking the ball to the hole for an emphatic dunk the first time he touched it. Rutherford finished with 22 points and eight rebounds in reserve action while he adjusts to playing back in the States. The Players were led on the night by another outstanding effort from center Malachai Jones. Jones finished with a game-high 28 points and 11 rebounds. Terell Smith weathered a rare off-night shooting the ball to finish with 18 points and 11 assists, while Chris Moore added 24 points and five assists. Thomas Pfaff hit his first eight shots on the night and finished with 19 points and nine rebounds. James Dillard and Brian Mobley also tallied double-digits with 17 and 10 points respectively. Mashon Farrior led the way for Queen City with a team-high 25 points and 11 rebounds on 10-of-17 shooting. Dominique Jenkins knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 18 points on the night.

The PrimeTime Players will be in action again at home next Saturday May 25th at the Banks Street Gym in Fort Mill at 5:00 as they take on the Greensboro Cobras for the second time this season. PrimeTime won in Greensboro in the season opener, 111-96. Queen City will take on HoopForLyfe next Friday night at Carolina Courts in Concord in a key match-up that could go a long way towards determining playoff seeding in the Western Conference.

Players Bite Cobras, Moore Records Triple-Double

Post by PrimeTimeplayers1991 » Mon May 27, 2013 8:19 pm

May 25, 2013 - Ft. Mill, SC: The PrimeTime Players won again on Saturday evening, defeating the Greensboro Cobras 160-114. The win pushed the Players’ record to 8-0 on the season and all but locked up a playoff spot for the defending champions. Greensboro, without leading scorer Norman Carter who is out indefinitely with an injured wrist, came out strong in the first quarter, exchanging baskets with PrimeTime for most of the period behind 11 points and seven rebounds from Zeke Mayes. A short burst of scoring before the first intermission from the Players’ stretched the lead to six but it looked as though this game might be neck-and-neck throughout.

PrimeTime quickly put those thoughts to rest at the beginning of the second quarter, stretching the lead out to double digits within the first minute. After an 8-0 run forced a Greensboro time out, the Players’ continued to pile it on behind a monster effort from Sean Barnette, playing in his first TRBL game. Barnette notched 18 of the team’s 39 second quarter points and the route was on as the teams headed into the half with PrimeTime on top 72-53. The second half held much of the same, as the Players continued to fill up the basket by scoring 48 and 40 points in the final two periods respectively. Chris Moore methodically picked apart the Greensboro defense in the second half, filling up the stat sheet on his way to the first PrimeTime Players triple-double in TRBL play. Moore finished with 28 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds in an effort that will certainly keep his name atop the MVP conversation as the season heads into the home stretch. Greensboro’s Mayes battled through some foul trouble in the third quarter and was the source of most of the offense for the Cobras throughout the game, finishing with 33 points and 16 rebounds.

Barnette finished with a game-high 35 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Malaciah Jones tallied yet another double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds while Donald Rutherford followed up an impressive debut with a double-double of his own, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Brian Mobley scored 24 points, James Dillard had 21, and Vic Street had nine points and 10 assists for the Players.Kenard Moore had 20 points for the Cobras in the losing effort while Jeremy James chipped in 18.The PrimeTime Players shot 59% from the field on the night and out-rebounded the Cobras by a margin of 60-38. The Players also shot 38 free throws compared to just five for Greensboro, making 27. Greensboro will travel home to face Queen City tomorrow while the PrimeTime Players will be off until next weekend’s double-header which starts Friday night in Concord against the same Queen City team.
