Even if they're losing a bit of money per season, how much has the value of each franchise grown with the mega TV deals? There are a few owners who could make a solid profit by cashing out.
Are they trying to give the owners some leverage when they have to negotiate a new CBA in 2017.
That would not be a shocking result.

One of the biggest scams going is the public interest project, stadiums always fall under this umbrella pounder spoke of a arena, I don't know if that is in this situation or not but any time you hear the word public interest project its a scam, how it works you ask well a small group who have interest in the project speak continually of how much the public will benefit from the proposed project when the truth of the matter is the general public (tax payer) is priced out and can't and or don't have a vested interest in benefitting from the project its a great scam legal of course but none the less a scam, as for teams losing money yes the owner buys in but in order to reach triple digit billionaire status take the TV money and use as little as possible for the team the entire thing is a shell game, without the TV money its glorified minor league sports, now who still is surprised by this oh you there in the stripped shirt come real close and I have a tip on some great land just across the bridge in El Paso sure it may be in another country but the public interest is outstanding .
Not just what preeths said (which is also true). Pleading poverty somehow seems to be a powerful tool to get that new arena you always wanted.
Less poverty than the threat of relocation.
Some people can't seem to bear the thought of their metropolis going without a money-sucking sports team.

Old enough to remember when bashing the ABA was fun.
