The Desert League announced today a working affiliation with the Cañeros de Los Mochis of the Mexican Pacific League. Players will now move freely between the two clubs during their respective seasons.

The Cañeros have won the league championship twice and currently have a half dozen players from affiliated baseball here in the US. Founded in 1947, they play at Estadio Emilio Ibarra Almada in Sinaloa which holds nearly 11,000 fans.

The Desert League welcomes the cooperation with the team and looks to expand its affiliates prior to opening their season this September.

“Our thanks to Joaquín Vega Inzunza, the president of the organization, for coming on board with the Desert League. We look forward to having a productive relationship with them,” said Director of Marketing John Guy.
