New Leagues/Freedom League

Post by indyproball » Sun Dec 06, 2015 4:11 pm

With all the new winter leagues announced that brings the total of new leagues to an all-time high.

The Freedom League quit then said they are playing and now their league link is forwarded to the Carolina League.

Anyone know what's going on?

Not sure about the FPBL's return, but Indy Ball Island had a good summary of some new leagues in the works.

Plb?

There's a Twitter account memorializing the old Portland Mavericks ( @PortlandMavs ), the 1970s independent team in the affiliated Northwest League immortalized in The Battered Bastards of Baseball. I believe that can still be found on Netflix.

On Tuesday, the account tweeted: "New dates announced for the Portland Mavericks first game after a 42 year hiatus. Here it is: June 1st, 2019...Portland, Oregon. Cant wait!"

Huh? Where?

A YEAR ago, the same account (I don't follow it) tweeted that they were working with a group known as PLB to develop a nationwide league with 36 teams. Obviously, this isn't passing the smell test. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

Pounder, there's nothing to see here.

Reason being that if this league were even conducting a soft opening there should be at least some type of trail being laid.Yet there is nothing to indicate anything is going happen, it would be good if the team could be reconstructed.

There are opportunities for new A level leagues, but this is not one of them.
