Game # 1

Post by Colonel » Sun May 20, 2012 4:46 pm

Was played. Despite some messups -- (for example - nobody knew that they had box seats - the people sitting people told everybody that they could sit anywhere-- so somebody was sitting in my box seat ---and the ushers(??) didn't even know that some seats were reserved-- but as a new league - it will work out -- anyway the fame wasplayed)

Had to leave in the 8th with scored tied 3-3...nothing on the freedom website for the score of the game - nothing in this mornings paper (no coverage anywhere I could find>)

what kind of crowd would you estimate for the league opener? Did they have programs, merchandise, good concessions, etc.?

Crowd

the authors count of 637 seems about right. A lot of kids --and lots of family and friends -- but a good cheap night out -- it was fun -- but seriously - they need to advertise ---I talked to 20 people at the Dbacks game last night and not one of them even know that this league is there ---- and thanks to this authors article I know who won - but have no idea who won Sunday's game - the Arizona Republic does not cover this league -- but then they don't cover many of the sports that Phoenix has - for example - do you know that Phoenix has a professional soccer team? Most people don't. Why they don't just do a little article on other sports ---8-(

Did not answer other questions. Food was the same as for the fall league --- hot dogs, cotton candy and beer. Nothing special. Programs showed up in the 3d inning --- a printed roster and score sheet. Two different t-shirts - $10.00 each -- one hat - $20.00. (team name on top of a baseball logo)

Just an fyi,
we now have the score for two of the games, game 1 was a 5-3 win for the Prospectors . The Monday game was Centennials 11-3, that info was posted by Tiffany Brooks on the Montezuma Federals Facebook page.
