What's up with the CBL?

Post by GeneCrowley » Tue Nov 13, 2012 9:36 pm

Apparently, the CBL has a new website (http://cblhoops.playerspace.com) and it looks ok but is very hard to navigate. Nothing of real substance on it yet.

Anybody know what's going on with the CBL? A new website indicates *some* activity but it would be nice to know more.

The CBL and I parted company, so I have nothing to offer other than curiosity.

I read yesterday that the Georgia Razors have joined the Carolina Basketball League:

http://www.rebounddr.net/

They were, at least for a while, part of the ABA and had released a schedule. Their first two games were cancelled and I'm guessing they'll wait until the Carolina league gets up and running again. They also played as the Atlanta Blaze of WBA.

They are the Continental Basketball League. All the original CBL teams from the Carolinas left for the Tobacco Road Basketball League.

I found a 2013 home schedule posted by the Raleigh RoughRiders on their facebook site, so I am assuming the CBL is a go.

https://www.facebook.com/RaleighRoughRiders

Saturday May 4th vs Garner GrayHawks
Satuday May 11th vs Fayetteville Shipmen
Saturday June 1st vs Charlotte Hawks
Saturday June 8th vs Durham Bulldogs

It seems to be getting worse. New managment for the league. At this point they have lost thier website and I think they have at most 3 teams (2 of which have no players and are owned by the new CEO). Besides, Mr. Mireles has a poor track record with teams, let alone with an entire league.

Found a site that summed up this guy with a ton of links. Someone must not like him very much.

Wrong CBL. This one based in Carolinas. Most teams left to form TRBL. This one, the Continental BL, is now run, I believe, by TL Hicks, the owner of the Rough Riders.
